Of Mice and Men.

Post: # 250922Post oldjerry »

I've been 'lurking' for a couple of weeks,6 or 7 months without the internet has been refreshing, but I've missed the ensemble that is this site.

After a few months I drove back to the UK to chase up the sale of the smallholding.I felt pretty rough while driving through Switzerland(never liked the place, watches too expensive,Toblerone overrated),managed to get back to UK.

Hefty Thrombosis, weeks in and out of hospital,etc.etc.No long car journeys,no flying, can't walk far for the foreseeable future(I've got Crohns' and it doesn't mix too well with the Warfarin).Kids had started their new schools in Italy, but they chose to come back to the UK,so the family are still together though it was a close run thing(Mrs.OJ in the Med at present but should be back soon) .

Our stuff is scattered throughout Europe at present! but there again,it's just stuff.

At least I've found the kids places in some real good state schools, and after a matter of weeks they've settled into a new routine, and made new friends.

That's my news...!......who knows what this year will turn up?

As they say,'It's not the cards you're dealt, but the way you play them'... just seems like recently some bugger's been dealing me off the bottom off the deck!!

Good to hear that you are more-or-less intact. Take it easy now.

I'm really glad to see you back!!! I was wondering how you were doing! Welcome back!

Bloody hell though re thrombosis etc O_O, that sounds awful. I was moaning earlier about having to drive from Derbyshire to Cambridge with a headache, that doesn't seem very difficult now compared to all the way from Switzerland with a blood clot. So sorry about your crappy cards, hope 2012 will be all aces (strained your metaphor there).

OJ you are back! We missed you - there is a thread somewhere I think. Very glad to have you back.

Sounds like you have had a rough trot, but hopefully 2012 will bring better and more healthy things for you and your lot.

Blimey, OJ, you've been in the wars! What you need is plenty of R+R with your feet up and a good dose of Ish.

Lets hope 2012 is a lot better (for all of us).

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

Hi oldjerry, good to see you back. Was it the long car journey that made the clot happen? My hubby broke his leg back in August (left fibula near the ankle) then he got an infection in his foot and spent more time in hospital then he developed an 8 inch blood clot in this leg, the middle of it being from behind his knee. He's on warfarin and it's taken a good while for him to be able to be on his feet for more than an hour and has to work from his bed with his feet elevated. Things are improving but the swelling is horrible, just hoping it will start to go sometime soon although doctors won't give any indication as to when. He has a long car journey to do in Feb but I'm not sure he should do it. Like yourself, we are hoping this year will be kinder to us than last and here's hoping you get better and settle and be happy oldjerry, cheers.
