At the risk of being boring please let me give a word to the wise from a retired Fire Prevention Officer.
If you have a real Christmas tree remember it is a living plant and requires watering to reduce needle fall AND to reduce the risk of fire. The video is of comparison tests between a tree that was not watered for 3 days and one that was regularly watered. The ignition source for each was equal to a match.

There's a big difference there!
Mine's a living plant that lives in a pot and I bring it in for Xmas - it's not very pretty or happy or healthy looking but does the job and doesn't grow much which means it can be reused year after year.
