Daffodils are late

I noticed yesterday that my daffodil shoots are just showing through, but they are late this year.
Last year and the year before they were well up in October ... last year I posted here about them on October 11th, so nearly a month late.

I have no idea what that means (if anything), probably means we had such a crap summer they have no idea what they're up to.
Nice to know spring is just around the corner though.

Tulips 3 inches high, primroses been flowering for ages, saw first violet today, the bugle is flowering, blackberries flowering again, never stopped picking strawbs or raspbs, no real frost since about March, no real rain since December last year really (apart from July and August) - the whole year is just upside down and inside out.

Been digging up my maincrop spuds and the earth, under the top couple of damp inches, is bone dry which may have preserved them.

We've had a good summer, and a good spring, and a good autumn, in fact we had a good winter this year since January - if good is measured by temperature.

I'd just rather have a normal year with normal temps and normal rainfall.

The last two years have been a bit extreme by recent standards. Maybe this year's going to be a bit less harsh!

As for spring being just round the corner, can we have winter first please? I quite like having four seasons.

Most certainly NOT.
Don't like the cold, don't like cold rain, don't like frost, don't like snow, don't like long dark evenings.
Do like spring starting just after Christmas and do like gloating over the tad inclement winter weather in northern Scotland.

Well it's definitely summer in Swindon. I have raspberries and blueberries in flower at the moment. Both finished fruiting months ago. I was picking strawberries yesterday. Blumin' cold for summer, mind.
