What do I do with my grandaughters hair???
Strange problem that I thought some enterprising isher might have an idea about! My grandaughter in Thailand had never had her hair cut until I went out last month. The Thais seem to have a custrom that the "older" woman in the family should give the child the first haircut, so the hairdresser would not touch it till I first cut the pony tail off. My son has given me the chunk of curly hair and now I dont know what to do with it!! He is very sentimental about her hair and I dont want to put it in the back of a cupboard, but the only thing I can think of are those hair lockets in which the victorians put dead family members hair. Dont like the idea somehow, even if I had found a supplier of the locket...anyone got any ideas?

what a pretty granddaughter you have!
you could plait it ... then put it into a deep frame, with a picture behind?
or make a corn dolly type thingy
or some kind of jewellery

Just thought of some sort of resin paperweight or keyring....how easy would that be? I have the feeling there is a resin kit lurking somewhere? I am not very crafty though so would hate to mess it up!

Wow, what a lovely girl and what beautiful hair. It must have been heart-breaking to cut it. Still, it'll soon grow back.

I think this is a lovely idea. If you take a photo of her in profile, you could cut out one of those victorian-style silhouettes for the back of the box.little blue duck wrote:what a pretty granddaughter you have!

Like that idea, Zoe!
She really had to have it cut..the heat in Thailand made it so uncomfortable when it was down, she hates having it brushed, and drying it was a nightmare! James was very sentimental about his little girl, but eventually admitted that it was impractical for her hair to be that long!
Got photos from the visit so I will have a go at a silhouette, or the photo. If I cannot get it to look good, I can still try a paperweight or resin locket!
