red currant hic drink

Last year for my mum's birthday, I poured vodka over redcurrants in a bottle. Was thinking of doing a similar thing but perhaps with a different alcoholic drink - any suggestions?

Rum and blackcurrants, or cherries and brandy (include some cracked kernels)

Edited to add: If no fruit available, try coffee liqueur - brandy on coffee beans and demerara sugar
