I think after my binge of crepes with bacon and chocolate, and a couple of very alcoholic weekends I have actually managed to lose weight! Of course, this could be because my normal diet involves an insane amount of healthy food and the crap food is shocking my system into working faster. Hopefully this continues!!! :D

yes, slow is good

but slow that has come to a complete halt is not so good!

I have only lost 7 lb since beginng of january - whilst it averaged 1 lb a week i was fairly happy with it - but now the average is dropping to only ounces a week, it doesnt sound so good!

so any ideas to give my metabolism a boost welcome!

Marmalady:
You don't have much weight to lose do you? It is that last bit that is the hardest as your body finds a "set point"and doesn't want to starve so it will hang on to it as much as it can!
I think BA recommended a boost of high calorie food to get your metabolism going- have you tried it? I think that is a another reason cheat days can help, or switch your eating around, go higher carb or higher protein, have some fat if you aren't having much....(just a bit of a switch temporarily)
Otherwise I am trying to learn to take coconut oil which is supposed to boost your metabolism, chili is a thermogenic too.
There is always weight lifting to boost muscle mass and therefore your metabolism will be higher as it takes calories to keep muscle going but subcutaneous fat is inert...

I have discovered that I have less to lose than I thought- I weighed myself at night instead of the morning. I am 1.5kg lighter in the mornings which means I am not putting on as much as I felt like I was. Good news but as I don't have so much to lose it will probably be pretty hard for me as I am at my "set point". I would like to be about 5kg lighter.
Vanity and clothes fitting are my main motivations.. and I want to keep the weight from slowly creeping up to avoid later health issues....

No, not an enormous amount of weight to lose. I would like to get below 10 stone -- so about 2 stone from my starting point

The lightest i have managed in the last few years was 10 st 3 lb , so i know it is possible -- if only i can get it off & keep it off!

I certainly feel healthier when i'm lighter - and more of my clothes fit well too!

Will have to try a treat or two of high calorie fatty food!

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for a LONG time now, truth be known partly due to my inability to actually get my ar$e off the sofa and loose any weight.

I'm now actually heavier than I was before Christmas and heavier than I have been for about a year. Not by a huge amount but by enough to make me feel really rubbish. I can manage a day or two of eating well and then the urge to binge on anything and everything takes over. I eat until my tonge hurts and my belly is bloated and heavy and I can't help it. I just want to be the size i was before I had the kids ie a nice curvy 14 instead of the ginormous size 22/24 that I have balooned to these days.
Any advise on controlling the binging would be gratefully accepted. Oh and just to clarify, I don't binge and purge, just binge :(

Keaniebean- I don't know much about PCOS but I do know that I binge when my hormones are out of whack- could your binging be related to hormone balance?
I am afraid I haven't got any sage advice re: binging as I am a shocker when I have PMT and think I will die if I don't get a tub of very good ice-cream or a tray of fudge...and then eat as much as I can...
I have found that when I exercise more my eating becomes better without any real effort on my part- my "farmer's logic"for this is that the exercise is bringing my body back to balance and consequently my cravings are more appropriate...the good old brisk walk in fresh air or a bit of lounge room yoga is good for me to get into better habits...

Keaniebean, I had noticed you hadn't been around. Do hope you feel better just for having told us! Can't really offer any advice, but would just say that in my own case, it took me many years to realise that I stuffed myself with food and alcohol when I was worried about something. It was usually money probs, which were compounded by spending more on junk food and wine! Anyway I send you a hug! pbf.

Thanks girls :grouphug:
I do feel better for having poured my guts out. I hate this PCOS, it rules my life, rather than me ruling it and I hate that.
Imagine having the cravings you get premensturally but instead of them going away they stay and they get increasingly worse. I get about 5 or 6 periods a year and the week following one is the only time when my hormone levels are 'normal' and I eat normally the rest of the time it's mood swings, sugar cravings, bloating, constipation, backache, nightmares, night sweats and temperature fluctuations galore! That is without some of the other symptoms which I don't care to mention here.

Weight loss is harder for those with PCOS, due to the hormone imbalances, so unless I ate like a rabbit and probably turn into a rabid axe murderer in the process I'm not sure I'm ever going to see a size 18 again let alone a size 14.

I think I'll just have to accept I'm more like venus de Willendorf rather than Aphrodite,

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

That is one of the funniest things I have ever read. By the end I almost felt sorry for the woman, but she had no one but herself to blame. I almost commented, but I would have been a hypocrite as my English is rubbash

On topic, I'm off to Belly Dancing this evening, I've never been before, but the paper landed through my door, opened on that page and when I picked it up i saw an advert. There must be some element of fate to it, it was really quite spooky.

I've also started a new weight loss blog. I've tried and failed in my weight loss attempts so far so I figured why not try a different approach and this is it! Anyone with a foot fetish, please dont look because the first picture is of my feet!
I'll put the address in my signature for anyone who cares to have a goosey gander.

Following advice given above to help kickstart my metabolism again, i spent last week eating things rather higher in fat & carbs than i have been doing recently - culminating with a chinese meal out last night

result -- i have gained 2 lb this week :(

Hopefully, if i resume my low fat / low carbs diet this week i will at least lose those extra 2 lb - and with any luck then continue downwards!
