It was cut from the hefty blade of an old chopper,known in Belgium as a ''hiep''
Most of the rough work was done at my job,during coffeebreaks or whenever the boss was off somewhere...


Total length is just 14 cm,5 mm thick carbon steel.
The cutting edge was hardened at home, using a propane blowtorch and a bowl of ice water.
I thought about polishing the entire knife,but I prefer the worn look and the hammer marks of the old hand-forged blade to show.
So the handle was lightly etched with a mix of vinegar and phosphoric acid to restore the patina.
I'm still contemplating on a sheath,but I'm currently undecided between a wooden magnetised one or a leather one.
