weight loss group
Re: weight loss group
Hi, thought I would join you happy band of folks.
I started to diet last April and have now lost 26lb starting at 16st 2lb am now down to 14st 5lb. Am following the Very OLD WW combined with calorie and carb counting being a diabetic.
Still have a way to go as I want to get down to 13st at least, me being just 5' tall.
According to statistics am supposed to 8st 7lb which I never, ever have been. On one occasion got down to 9st 7lb and felt really ill. My happy weight was 10st 7lb but now at the age of 76 think just a few more pounds on that will be comfortable.
Here's hoping - Onwards and Downwards!!

Re: weight loss group
I don't appear to be losing weight but I do appear to be ditching the belly, I can only assume that toning & muscle building is happening

Re: weight loss group
Funnily enough that's what I seem to have done this week - chocolate, wine, bread and jam, occasional biscuit - so my metabolism shold be in over drive! lol!Big Al wrote:Try the DLT weight loss improvement system..... eat a big bar of chocolate and it will kick start your metabolism.....Milims wrote:I think my scales are broken - I've been the same for 4 weeks in a row!!
Change the way you eat. If you always have the same things for breakfast, like toast or porridge etc try something different like eggs and bacon.
The body gets used to the reduced calories and also the type of food we eat when we eat it so shake things up and you will have a good loss next week.

Seriously tho I must be doing something right if that lot didn't put on a few pounds!
BTW - I can't be right in thinking DLT stands for Dave Lee Travis???

I'm 12 and a half stone and should be about 10 and a half. I'm quite tall so can carry it and am a size 14 but would like to be a 12 again. Over the Christmas holidays I just ate and drank whatever I fancied and that's when the weight went on and it just won't drop off like it used to. I'm 45 next Friday and 'they' say its harder to lose weight the older you get but I'm not so sure. My 66 year old mum lost 2 and a half stone last year just by eating smaller portions.
I've given up the wine which I'm not finding difficult and now its just the biscuits and cakes which are in ready supply at work.
I'm hoping the work in the garden will help too.

11 st 6 lb this week - up half a pound -- probably the result of going out for a meal last night and having both a garlic bread starter and a pudding!
*must try harder this week*

Re: weight loss group
Welcome misty and happy birthday for next week. In general it's a load of tosh to say it's harder to lose weight when you get older. Sure you might not be able to run a 4 minute mile or a 2 hour marathon but it still comes down to calories in calories out. Eat too many calories over the calories you need to keep your body going each day and you will put weight on. burn more calories than you eat over the amount you need to live and you will lose weight. Exercise more, eat less and it works..... in theory. I've put 4 pounds on this week and I blame being in pain so used the car more but then one of those journeys was for a 14" double decadance pizza fropm a certain table top game chain store.misty44 wrote:I'm 12 and a half stone and should be about 10 and a half. Still think it was the pain and nowt to do with the pizza.

Re: weight loss group
I got sick a week ago and seem to have lost 4kg during the past few days >.< Tis worrying in a way but my appetite is slowly starting to return :) Hopefully will be able to keep losing weight but in a healthy way. I now have access to a gym again so once I have gotten rid of the chest infection I shall be off there every second day or so

Re: weight loss group
Hope you get better soon spanderholic. Keep hydrated and eat small bits frequently rather than big meals.Spanderholic wrote:I got sick a week ago and seem to have lost 4kg during the past few days >.< Tis worrying in a way but my appetite is slowly starting to return :) Hopefully will be able to keep losing weight but in a healthy way. Still, well done on the weight loss

Anyone else want to own up to a good or bad week or need a bit of motivation?
I've lost 2 kg since last week but still need to get my head straight and cut out the extra breakfasts.... and dinners... and snacks...

Re: weight loss group
Hi all.
Anyone interested in losing weight, improving their cardiovascular fitness/general strength and conditioning, improving their confidence as a result and generally having more energy and a greater feeling of wellbeing, im willing to offer training programmes free of charge to members of "Ish". I spent most of my time in the army specialising as a regimental Physical Training Instructor (PTI) and also hold several ABA Boxing Coach Qualifications, im Personal Trainer Qualified and also compete in Muay Thai Boxing.
If anyones interested in having me put together a fitness/strength and conditioning , diet and nutrition programme for them , from the ground up taking into consideration your current fitness levels, weight, etc etc then just let me know. No equipment needed either if you dont want to join a gym, bodyweight training is convenient, and can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be. You can acheive everything you want using a well structured programme using bodyweight training (though i supplement my bodyweight work with weighted vests, power bands and sandbag training). If your not interested i wont be offended haha. But bare it mind, the offers there for those that want it and as i said i dont charge, its nice to be able to help people out and strength/conditioning/fitness/muay thai boxing and boxing are things im passionate about so it'll be a pleasure. PM me im more than happy to help.
