Pigs as art
We've just said goodbye to an artist and photographer who were visiting the croft to photograph Doris, one of our Berkshire sows. Doris' image will be part of an artwork raising questions about attitudes to livestock, to food and waste, to food miles, and to food regulations.
Doris enjoyed a shampoo, trotticure, and massage with baby oil before being brought out to show her best side. She co-operated beautifully—so long as the praise, rubs and food treats kept coming. The pleasures of being an artist's model!

Re: Pigs as art
I could do with a trotticure - the baby oil doesn't bear thinking about though

We used to do this when we showed, in fact pre show filming of lines of old, gnarled pig-farmers oiling up large sows could easily find it's way on to some strange websites!

The Big Lad took some photos of the action, but I haven't had time to get them off the camera yet. Been very busy picking apples and plums, with the potato crop to come.
