what to do advice needed

Post: # 209056Post Russian Doll »

right we have figured out that our cockroach problem did not originate in our flat thank christ however they have now taken up residence behind my and in my washing machine

this has to go now now but im wary of getting another second hand one as ive been told cockroach eggs lie dormant in second hand apliances stored and then hatch when they get the warmth of a house...i cant afford to replace my washing machine and my cooker which has also died straight out

any ideas what i can do...does anyone know if its true about the egg thing

i dont want to get rid and then bring another cockroach back in ifykwim

The best roach remedy I've found is to mix 1 part flour with 1 part dry plaster of paris. Put the mix in little lids or other flat containers, in corners or in the casing of appliances, wherever you think the roaches might like to hide. They eat the flour, and wind up getting the plaster along with, which mixes with the moisture in their stomachs and hardens.

Don't know about the eggs, but maybe the new machine could be put somewhere warm but not in the house proper, just long enough to see if anything hatches?

Contact your local EnvironmentalHealth Dept and ask for advice. Good luck x
