GUILTY: A very un-ishy purchase!
Ok, I confess. I did not make them, I did not grow them. I accpet that they will not improve the planet - nay - have contributed to the draining of its precious resources. They won't lay eggs and I conceed - they go against most of my principles about vanity and materialism but OH MY GOODNESS AREN'T THEY BEAUTIFUL!!!
So go on, ease my conscience - does anyone else ever fall off the ishy wagon and what with?
I really am not this materialistic, I don't konow what came over me, but it is my cousins wedding in a couple of weeks and I just wanted to wear nice shoes! I spend most of my life in a pair of old wellies cut into clogs, honest. So go on, ease my conscience - does anyone else ever fall off the ishy wagon and what with?

You say they don't improve the planet, but if they make you feel good then they have improved the planet by making you happy!!!
Seriously though, there's a big difference between the odd splurge and full on consumerism! And anyway you can't wear old wellies cut into clogs to a wedding!
Going out for dinner is our weakness, it doesn't achieve anything other than making us feel good.

Wow!! I envy you the shoes but also the ability to walk in them!! I bought some very similar cerise shoes for a wedding and was horrified to find that the venue was a barn with cobbled coutyard and lots of grass
I actually managed quite well and kept them on all afternoon and evening (unlike some who had to take their shoes off!!) but my feet were grateful for flatties the next day! You have to fall off the ishy wagon sometimes...its great to treat yourself to something impractical once in a while! I bet they brought a smile to several ishy faces today so you have improved the planets happiness!
We indulged ourselves at an ice cream parlour today...choc nut sundae
But (and this is the excuse!) it is a small local business who handmakes the ice cream!!

An occasional splurge on something totally frivilous (& stunning!) is good for the soul!
My weakness? Books, I have 100s
but I do refer to them alot (old age is creeping up; lousy memory!), lend them to friends and use them as sound insulation (the bookshelves are on the party wall).

They're lovely Bonnie - no guilt required.
I'd look like dick Emery if I wore them

Gosh I wish I had thought of using my bookcases along the party wall, we move out to a detached house on Friday so it's a bit late for me, but great idea!!!!MuddyWitch wrote:An occasional splurge on something totally frivilous (& stunning!) is good for the soul!

OMG they are absolutely gorgeous. I, too, envy your ability to walk in them.
I once tried on a pair of really really high heels in a shoe shop. Being 5' 10", they made me nearly 6' 6". When I stood up, I banged my head on the 'sale' sign and promptly fell back into the chair. That was the one and only time I ever wore really high heels.

So Pretty
and for a purpose too
Guilty here too, just arrived today a new cordless drill /driver!! has three batteries so won't have to wait hours for re-charge. I've named it 'anniversary present' as it's near enough
I can no longer wear heels since one of my toe joints seems to have given up moving, but always had a problem with them anyhoo having wide feet

lol to some of those comments yes I'd feel like Dick Emery too and only an inch shorter than Zoe (gosh there's someone taller than me!!). Hope it doesn't rain as they don't look like the kind of shoe that can stand up to it - rather like those swimsuits that are designed to not get wet.
I have ruined my feet wearing shoes with heels over the years which pinch your toes together (and not high heels either) so I love the comfort of wearing trainers and wellies and trekking sandals and not giving a toss what anyone else thinks cos I'm old enough now to wear only 'sensible' footwear.
But enjoy your shoes Bonnie!

Shoes are such an essential part of life that there is no reason to feel guilty buying them, in fact as far as I am concerned they are one of the major food groups (alongside wine, chocolate and books). I would go further and recommend that you up your intake of shoes to five a day as per government guidelines.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

They are soooooooo delish, I am totally jealous of anyone who can wear shoes like my feet are size nine and just as wide as they are long, so I don't do shoes.
Definately do not have any guilty feelings towards the shoes, you could always use them to kill the slugs after you have worn them out, so they may have a secondary purpose
