Attended a talk at the Charleston farmhouse last night with Alys Fowler in the barn there talking over some slides her publisher put together. It was actually quite an intimate setting with Alys firstly showing how her garden started off before the 'Edible Garden' series was conceived, and the problems that had to be overcome. She spoke a lot about polyculture and had a lot of knowledge on lots of edible plants and how they can grow together - going much deeper than i saw covered in the television series. She recommended Martin Crawford and his agroforesty website and another website which i had written down but don't have in front of me. Her knowledge was almost encyclopedic of strains of vegetable plants that were new to me and exciting which was impressive. Lots of information there to take in so i hope after the 90 minute or thereabouts talk some of it i can recall as time goes by. Has really got me interested in getting Martin Crawford's book when i can and was a very pleasant way to spend an evening especially after a stroll around the lovely garden at the Charleston farmhouse.

Sounds really good. I love to see her speak, as long as she wasn't in one of her infuriating mini-dresses.

She had some sort of mini dress thing on but nothing too silly, she is small though. Very good delivery and content at the talk so thankfully was too preoccuipied to notice so much. The odd humorous quip here and there livened things up too.
