You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.
Been a very busy girl today ... went of strawberry picking this morning ... got back late this afternoon after having done a ton of other stuff ... made jam put strawbs into gin and bottled Elderflower cordial ... one lot in glass for use now and the rest in plastic bottles for freezing ... and I spent ages looking for bugs for the dimijohns I tidied them away the other day .... can't find the bleddy things now .. so replacement in the morning ... please excuse the kitchen roll in cling film acting as a bung for the night
well done you, my elderflowers are not even blmooming yet due to the weather; hopefully this weekend (but I said that last weekend and they remained steadfastly closed).
2010 is my year of projects - 365 days and 365 projects.

not an odd question .. I discoverd the idea in a shop that sells loose alcohol and you choose the fancy bottle ... The young lass as it was Scotland let me look and suggeted a cook shop... and thats where I found my first one then I discovered the very same thing it Rymans I think... when you write with them careful not to smudge and it stays put until you wash the jar then it come straight off ... It's called ..Pilot super colour, permanent ink type ... thats all it says on it and the fact that it silver... its the sort that has a ball inside that rattles whe you shake it. That should get you the right one

Funny isn't it, I noticed that yesterday but now you've mentioned it I've only just noticed the R missing from elderflowers too. It's just wierd how some mistyped words stick out and others don't. This is an observation and not a pop at your spelling!

I noticed the spelling but thought it was written in a charming sort of dialect!
Mmmmmm, that strawberry gin looks yummy. Do you literally just plonk strawberries in a jug of gin and leave it to do it's thing? I might have to have a go at that (sounds about my level of skill!). How long do you leave it for before you can drink it? And how long will it last for in it's big jug? (And I mean, without the 'as long as it takes you to drink it' jokes.... )
