I love Ish

Post: # 194274Post herbalholly »

Just wanted to say how much I love this forum. It's the only place on tinterweb that I go that makes me feel like I've gained something rather than had something drained out of me. You can have a little look at what people are up to, ask for advice, share info and be inspired. It's brilliant. woop woop!

Yes, I've been having quite a few of those moments just recently. I've never made friends easily, always feeling like a bit of an outsider, a bit odd, and like I don't fit in. But here, I feel like a bit of an insider, a bit odd, and (therefore) like I DO fit in. :cooldude:  I have become friends with some of the Ishers on Facebook, and there are some who are the loveliest, most caring and generous people I have ever come across. It's so wonderful when you click with people, especially when you're not naturally clicky. :grouphug:

Me too. I've been a member now for over three years and Ish has, quite literally, helped me to stay sane. It's somewhere I can come when I'm feeling lonely, lost or miserable and know that I'll get cheered up. It's also somewhere I can share the joy of a first egg, strawberry or ray of sunshine.

Keep Ishing.

Zoe

ish kept popping up when I was searching for different things and when I had a realisation that he (paid)Money Saving forum I frequented wasn't really giving me very much I went of in search of another and guess what popped up! I originally thought I would hang about until "the right forum" emerged as I didn't think I was "Ish-ish" enough but.... it looks like I am becoming more ish myself- i have made jam and relish for the first timewe are eating more out of our garden but one of the things I really enjoy is the fact that people here are clever enough to keep conflicts down, engage in frank discussions and still mantain a sense of humour. The last forum I was on couldn't boast the same and the Mods censored anything that could be interpreted as possibly offensive to someone, somewhere and therefore the forum members were treated like children...
I think the members and moderators of Ish do a great job...Huzzah!
Just got my copy of the Ish Bible yesterday and returned the library copy.. with a bit of treacle on it

Andy & Dave are directly responsible for my daily lifestyle! I'm not sure how aware they are just how many lives they have helped to shape, but they were definitely the catalysts that changed our entire future.

July 2008 - was living (renting) in the big posh house, brand spanking new, 4 beds, all en-suite, blank canvas of a 1.5acre garden all grass (plus a few herbs that I had sneaked in!) Sunroom, Utility room, and a 40ft kitchen, no neighbours, all mod cons! So, hubby & I are out one day & stop off at a castle that's having a 'garden day'. OK, the garden day consisted of a few hydrangea plants, a pond man & a coffee shop
But they had a lovely little gift shop, where the Bible was first spied......

I didn't buy it that day actually, but I kept thinking about it & a few days later I saw a copy in Galway & got it.
So I came here..... loved what I was reading, & there you have it! The big idea was born to buy a traditional irish cottage with some land to have a few chicks, some veggies & go back to basics.
OK, at times I don't think we realised just how basic we would become, but I think we're getting there!!

The one place that has kept me sane is this site, & yes I also echo the admiration of the moderators AND the members, who all have the common sense to control the site without being controlling and to understand that no matter how Ish you are - full blown Ish or just windowsill Ish, you're still a valid & valued Ish member.

Thank you Andy & Dave & Thank you to the moderators & many friends that I've made here... and MW... hurry up & get out here, I need you to gossip with!! :hugish:
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

Three cheers for ish    yes, we do all have an 'I love ish' moment.

When I first came here I had a one bedroom flat on a main road in Glasgow, a 4 month old baby and not even a window-box of a garden.

I was already pretty ish, I just didn't have a name for it and like others I was considered weird.

3 years later and my life has changed immesurably.

Ish gave me the confidence to do what I always hankered after and my life is richer, more varied and more fulfilling than it would have ever been if we had continued as we were.

I too have met real friends here, mostly on-line friends, but some of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in real life and one who keeps showing up at my house with chickens, bags of horseshit and most recently a bathroom sink

I think to have somewhere to belong is a big part of it, I think we are a fine bunch of mis-fits  I wouldn't have it any other way

I love ish too.  :grouphug:

I read a few articles on the forum a couple of years ago and 4 hours later I was still glued to the computer screen trawling all the back posts. i couldn't get enough, all the info I have gained on this site is amazing. I now have a beautiful front garden brimming with all sorts including veg and fruit and a pond, a back garden with chickens despite only being 12 foot square and bills have all been reduced as I have learnt about things like soapnuts, pitrok, mooncups and how to make my own clothes.

I have a lot to thank you all for. :flower:  :flower:  :flower:
