It's not an easy road (update)

Post: # 193700Post homegrown »

Well, things haven't gone quite according to plan so far, we had a rough patch with the new house as the next door neighbours started telling us where we could put things and pinching some of our land for a vege garden (the very front of the property is made up of about 5 by 25 metres of our land and 7 by 25 metres of the local transit authority land, but they demanded it all and we ended up having to let it go to prevent a neighbour war), then they told us that where we wanted to put our chicken coop would spoil there view, even though the coup was shoter than the Holly hedge and their trees but when they threatened to shoot our rooster we drew the line and contacted the landlord, and asked him to tell them to but out of our business. The landlord was so worried about it that he seriously thought about just selling the house and told the neighbours he would sell it to the local bike gang and they backed off, but for a view days it looked like it would all fall apart and we'd have to find a new place to live.

It's sorted now but we are so short on help for packing and shifting ,plus we had to take our middle boy back to hospital with another svere asthma attack, that we have had to push back the moving date to the eighth of may now.

But some good things have happened, we,re now part of a winter farm and craft market every two weeks, we scored a house load or rimu framed windows for the new greenhouse, so I can now build two

But the stress of everything has led to my depression getting worse as are the anxiety attacks, which has ofcourse pushed my blood pressure back through the roof again, so please everyone send lots of blessings and good thoughts our way

cheers Richard (Homegrown)

What is it about neighbours that they feel like they have the right to tell other people what they can/can't do on their property???

I really wanted to answer Nomada's post about her allotment neighbour but to be honest, apart from advising that he be told to F off, I had nothing else constructive to say!

And that's how I feel right now, Richard - if I were you, I wouldn't tell the neighbours what you're doing with the the property - as long as the landlord knows & is cool about it, I'd keep everything else close to my chest - if they don't like, then bloody tough! I sympathise though, to have run-ins with the neighbours before you even move into the property must be difficult already & you're not even there!

Try & relax as much as possible - it's no good making yourself ill over this.
I wish you all the luck in the world for the move & hope that you have many years of happy Ishing there - without further neighbour problems! :grouphug:

You poor thing, what a run of bad luck.

I can't understand them either - you would think they would be enthusiastic about the prospect of a few fresh eggs!

Really hope that things work OK for you :hugish:. Stinky neighbours, who do they think they are?!

Bllody hell, Richard, you are having a tough time. Try to ignore the neighbours. They're obviously working on the principle of "get your point of view in quick" - maybe the last tenants were a nuisance to them? But they'll soon realise they've now got good neighbours - slip them half a dozen eggs and you'll probably be best friends

All the best honey and try not to make yourself ill over all this. :hugish:

A big :hugish: to cheer you up. And don't forget to trample all over their "new" garden.

As said by the others, don't bother telling them your plans, just do it and let them worry about it instead.

Hey Richard! :grouphug: Remember that's what Ish is about.

So many of us have neighbours, friends and family who quite simply just don't get it. So we come on here and find our friends. Our LIKE-MINDED friends who understand what we are doing and why, will give advice when requested, ask opinions of people like you because we know you have something valuable to offer, and give lots of these :hugish: :grouphug: :hugish: whenever we think it will help.

Oh, and ditto what Julie said because I can't put it better

You'll be OK. I promise. :hugish:
