Financial Advisor or advice sought

Post: # 190902Post sarahkeast »

As my divorce progresses  I am now in a position to be looking what to do with my share of a pension fund.

I would like to invest this ethically/sustainably etc, but have no idea how to go about this/who to talk to etc.

Would appreciate any advice/contacts or suggestions.

Thanks

Hi Sorry not to be able to help directly but have you looked at these sites as a start?
www.the-ethical-partnership.co.uk www.greenconsumerguide.com › Finance www.moneypage.com › Investments › Pensions
Dont know how to do direct links (and those I click on in this forum often dont work!!! computer illiterate-ish!)
Congratulations on getting this far!

Good luck

The Financial Services Authority has a financial advice website called MoneyMatters. Not sure whether it specifically deals with ethical investments, but, being the FSA, it is straight forward, unbiased advice to get you started!

Most of the big pension companies now have 'Ethical' funds that you can invest into but beware. Their definition of 'Ethical' is slightly different to what you might think. There is an 'Ethical' index now which they all follow so they're all pretty much the same and they all include T@5co.

You really would be best off speaking to a pensions adviser. Ask friends and family to recommend one. Make sure they are independent and professionally qualified and, before you chose to use them, make sure they understand your need for ethical investments.

You can ask the pension company for the criteria they use when chosing which companies to invest in.
