I just watched it - it's so beautiful that it made me cry!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind

It won't make us rich

I was so taken with the story that I looked in my usual internet haunts but couldn't find it, so went into town to the second hand book shop to buy it. I looked in all the appropriate places but it wasn't on the shelves, so I asked one of the assistants if there was anywhere else to look (bearing in mind thsi is a HUGE book shop in an old railway station). He went off to look in the back and lo and behold it had just been taken in this morning and was waiting to be put on the self! I guess some things are just meant to be!

As it happens - just after I went to the bookshop I went to buy some milk and met an olf fiend that I haven't seen for ages who I really didn't expect to see. I showed her the book and she really wants to read it as she used to live in Potugal! The word is spreading!

Hey, i was Googling earlier and looking into guerilla gardening on Wikipedia and it mentioned this story. It sounded interesting so i hunted and found the adnimation to download. So glad i did! Touching story, really really nice. I should have guessed it had been mentioned on here! If anyone wants the animation video give me a shout.

I've just read it now too and was a bit sad that it was fiction - thought it was about a real person. Lovely anyway.

The link to the animated version doesn't work anymore.

If you type in "taringa" and "the man who planted trees" in google you will find the page.

Search in that page for the 3 links. Download all three.

Then use HJsplit to join the three files together into one. http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/

It is on youtube but low quality and split into 3 parts.

I found it and watched it earlier. The link is http://www.moviesfoundonline.com/man_wh ... _trees.php

No need for splitting or joining (don't understand that bit anyway!).

Funny how a story you can read in 5 mins can last 30 mins on film. Normally a book that takes you about 20 hours (or whatever) to read is condensed into a 2 hour or less film!

And I do love Christopher Plummer's voice. Sexy.......

joining needed if you want to download to keep it rather than watch online
