OH told me that his aunties refer to me as Old Mother Earth. I'm feeling very proud

Erm, that's it really. Just wanted to share.

I think that's lovely. I dread to think what OH's family call me. But I guess it wouldn't be remotely complimentary.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

I never thought I'd say this, but I like being old!!

I like being a bit batty & I like that I can still shock the kids

Hubby has started calling me 'Mrs Dolittle' because he thinks I have special animal powers after watching 2 dogs, the kitty, several hens, roosters, ducks & turkeys all follow me around the garden all day..... I haven't, it's just that I'm the feeding lady & the animals are all opportunists!

So, Old Mother Earth, I think we should start a granny club & rejoice in the marching of time - at least it means we're supposed to be wise now - even if we're not!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

I'll be 39 in a couple of weeks, so I don't consider myself to be old yet, but I'm really enjoying the journey. I know a lot of women these days seem to see aging as the process of becoming a white-haired raisin and nothing more, but I see it as the gathering of wisdom which is something to be enjoyed. And Richard's aunties are in their late 60s and 70s, so I take the emphasis as being more on the 'Mother Earth' rather than the 'old' part anyway.

My father-in-law treats his son and myself like we are 5 year olds..........so patronising you wouldn't believe :angryfire: He seems to think that over our 48 years we haven't actually learnt how to do anything including think for ourselves. We were eating some of my home-made soup when he started telling me how easy it was to make it then proceeded to tell us, step by step, how to do it :banghead: . Wouldn't like to think about what they call me but I sure know what I call them  .

Oh boy do I identify with Spider8 feeling patronised.
We spent years trying to explain to my parents that our boiler only heats the water we need rather than using an immersion heater. We moved several times and after each move had the same kind of system. Eventually, my grandparents got a boiler like this and my dad rang me specially to explain to me how much better it was than an immersion heater and how we should get one....!
Also, my mother in law is lovely, but she does specialise in telling me how to do things I taught her to do (stir-frying, pot-roasting...).
Guess we will never be grownup in their eyes

We had that kind of boiler in every house we lived in until the current one. I could never get through to my mother that I couldn't put the clothes to air in the airing cupboard because I didn't have an airing cupboard and I know the airing cupboard is where the immersion is but we didn't have an immersion and if there isn't an immersion, there isn't a cupboard for the immersion and I get my hot water from a boiler which is on the bedroom wall, not in a cupboard, and no the boiler doesn't heat the water in the immersion, it heats the water in the boiler, and no the boiler doesn't STORE the water in the immersion, it heats what I need, when I need it and sends it straight down the pipes to the taps not to the immersion because
