not an isher post need to rant about scottish power

Post: # 188517Post Silver Ether »

My in-laws ... both in their late eighties.. one with Alzimers and one whose had a stoke and not very mobile ... recieved a joint Gas and leccy bill for £1,135.00... gulp ok its a lot but they need to be warm and they can pay but the rant is .... the meters were read,old fella makes a note of the readings ... bill arrives and after spending an age trying to understand the damned thing I thinks;

Why is the leccy section got the reading on it and the gas is estimated ?
Why is the gas estimationion over double what it was last year?

So as I am not an acedemic I got my old fella to take a look and he does all the maths ...
The leccy is right at £156.00
Works out the gas from the old fellas reading and it works out at £420

that adds up to £576 ??? not £1,135 :angryfire:

Is this how thay make their profits by talking loads of cash of the elderly and using it for self interest ... like maybe loaning it on to elsewhere to make money out of money thats not theirs ?????

Its a good thing that I am their carer or they could have been in a very upset and frightening situation for them. Why should they have to put with this sort of treatment. :angryfire: :angryfire:

hello there ,

like what happpened in the us years ago , the energy firm that fell.
The Netherlands have gas fields in the north sea but now need to buy gas from russia ?
Probably the same as in the UK , green energy comes from Poland , made by coal power stations , or French
Nuclear power .
Dutch energy firms "sponsor " the dutch skating idiots at the olympics ??

They are all criminal outfits , with very close links (taxes) to the governments.

Enjoy ,

regards ,

PAul

We had a nightmare with SP after a new meter was installed. (We are 100% electric, we have no gas at all and we have white meter heating). The meter fitter put it in, and keyed in the reading incorrectly. We pay monthly in advance on one of those card jobbies - we suddenly got a 'statement' from them saying they were putting up our monthly payments from £73.00 per month to £179.00!

Fortunately, OH used to work with them and knows how to read their ridiculous statements - he worked out that suddenly our consumption went up so much that apparently we were using more in a day than we had been in a week. I looked at the meter, and it clicked - the meter man had transposed two digits on his read that had added loads of kilowatts to our apparent usage. We fought and fought with them to admit it - it was so obvious, they had to admit it in the end. We got an apology letter and a cheque for £20.00 (OH really emphasised that I was 8 months pregnant and extremely upset and stressed and we were going to leave them because we couldn't deal with the headwork).

Week later - another 'statement' telling us that our payments would go up to £124.00 a month!

So, I started getting very anal and taking readings every day and logging them on an Excel document - I even went as far as to work out which appliances were costing the most to run, and ensuring - for example - that I didn't use the oven on the same day I used the washing machine; and we started entering the details online. We were, in fact, only using around £48.00 per month during the Winter - only about £25.00 during the Summer.

They still insist on taking more off us though - they wanted £80.00 per month, we got them down to £58.00; but at the end of the year we are always in credit. So they've got that extra money from us earning THEM interest for 12 months until they give it back. I'd prefer it in my bank, thanks.

We were lucky - we noticed. We've helped out a few people who have issues with odd bills; and anyone who is really stuck is welcome to PM me and we'll try to help you if you think there is something really odd with your bill. I do wonder how many people just pay it up without thinking about it, though - particularly the vulnerable who often don't understand the complicated nature of the bills.

Honestly, if you think there is something seriously amiss with your energy bill, do PM me. You might have to scan your bills and email them to me, but OH is happy to look at them for you and see if there are any glaring errors made by the company.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.

Thats a nice offer CT .... we have sorted ours but from past expeience I know it can be difficult ....

We shouldn't have to go through this crap when paying for gas and leccy ... What would happen if you got the shopping at the shop and they charged you twice for everything ...It should be sorted out, but as ever there are to many things in life going on to have the time to start dealing with their behavoiur.
