Our garden consists of raised beds - for disabled gardeners we have modified the beds to allow wheelchair access between beds (with room for turning), and ensured that the paths are suitable for wheelchairs and people with other mobility issues (no trip hazards, loose stones etc) and adjusted the height so that wheelchair / frame users can easy reach into the middle of the bed from either side. The height of the bed allows them to use normal hand tools, and the soil in the raised bed remains loose because it is not being compacted by being stood on; making it a lot easier for people to maintain. We've also made sure these beds are the closest to the polytunnel, potting shed and toilet (which is wheelchair friendly too) and that there is good access to all the communal areas (no steps, tricky surfaces etc which could be difficult for visually impaired people, for example, as well as wheelchair users).

I'm pretty sure there are grants available for such projects, if you love mountains of paperwork! I'm just trawling through a mountain of grant information at the moment, if I come across anything I'll let you know.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
