Will it work ?

Post: # 187136Post oldfella »

Have made a wick pot for pricking out my seedlings which are coming along nicely, has anyone tried this, and I am wondering if I should add liquid feed to the water, any ideas or thoughts on the subject welcomed.

I don't really understand what you mean, oldfella. Is the bottle full of water/feed and the top part inverted so the wick dangles into it siphons it up and over into the soil?

If so sounds feasible. Where would you use it? Garden or greenhouse?

Sorry its not clear, the idea is that bottom half of the bottle contains water and the top half containing the wick is inverted with the wick coming up on the inside of the upper half into the soil, that way I would be able to lift out the top half of the bottle containing the plant to replenish the water and nutrients, untll ready to plant out.

If the seedlings are going into fresh potting compost when you have pricked them out then they won't need extra fertiliser as there is already enough in the compost to last them until you plant them out.

I recognise those milk bottles! Let us know how it works.
