Re: Guerilla Gardening
Have done various bits over the years. We built a community garden about 15 years ago, with a pond and fruit trees on what was waste land, but about 7 years later it was trashed by a developer, who couldn't build on it but turned it into a sterile lawn.
Best if you can involve the local community. A great idea that I've seen in Spitalfields London is where they have taken over some waste land and got the local community and kids to grow vegetables and have cooking days teaching the kids to cook and to enjoy eating their vegetables.
But small scale initatives can also be striking. In a street by us someone I think simply sowed some seeds in the little bit of earth around the trees (in the pavement) lining the street. In summer these little spaces are full of hollyhocks and other flowers, it transforms the street.

Re: Guerilla Gardening
I do it but my local area is pretty bad for finding helpers. It's basically just my housemate and I making seedbombs at home.
I'm sure the guerilla gardening site has recipes for seed bombs too, using clay and the like.
