Yup, just like the pavements here in Swindon. This is one time of the year that I'm grateful that I live on a main road. Straight out of my drive onto a clear and well-gritted tarmac.

Take care everyone in this weather. Don't want any bumps and breaks.

The postman finally got through to us but my husband nearly fell over on the ice getting to the gate - it's been so compacted by the car going over the tiny bit of snow on Friday that it is now a skating rink, on a steep slope.

Broom and salt job to clear a line from the road, down the steps to the front door yesterday so that the postman could get to the door. Well there was a parcel due, can't have the postman damaged when there's a present due.

We're in the cycle of snow showers, thaw a bit, freeze a lot, sleet and snow showers, thaw and freeze. Not good for going shopping.

nope not cold! but I'm indoors and wrapped up like an inuit!

i go from a size 14 to a size 20 in the winter due to wearing so many clothes - I even have indoor hats and indoor fingerless gloves! it's all about insulation - i'm using 1.99 rubber shower curtains behind my curtains to keep the warmth in and i don't pull back the curtains in north facing rooms - two duvets and a blanket/s to wrap myself in when I'm working (writer) one heater on at the mo though and i've also added a third layer of insulation to my office window with temp wrap to keep it warmer in here - so - nope not cold.

So glad you have your snow SusieGee, I was surprised when you said you didn't get any, having camped in 18 inches of the stuff in snowdonia (some years back when I was brave enough for winter bike rallies)

OK, I will admit we regularly see snow on tomatoe plants with green tomatoes on the vine, But these were an early variety called Rutgers Bush.

Sneak and Peek. It was definitely cold here yesterday—I found two blackbirds and a sparrow frozen to death under the trees. Temperature hit a high of -5.9C at 1pm with an overnight low of -10.1C. Today has been warmer with a high of -3.1, but it's dropping fast now.

And don't worry about the pigs feeling cold. Not only do they have thick winter coats, insulated houses and deep beds of straw, but they also get warm porridge of barley, potatoes, neeps, carrots and sow rolls. They even get their cold water swapped for warm once a day. (And you should hear them squeal when the water top up is cold, not warm. Spoiled blighters.)

Yikes, apples with snow on!!! Must admit it looks pretty, but! Not good for the trees either with the weight of snow on the leaves. :(

I feel sorry for everyone in England who are not going to get where they planned to go for Xmas. I don't know if my mum will get where she was planning to go due to the snow, and like everyone else won't have anything in foodwise for Christmas at home. :( :( :( Must give her a ring.

If you look on the weather map just below the "20 inches" text, there is a small area marked with Heavy Snow...that is where I Live !

text from weather service, "A major winter storm will impact the region from late this afternoon through Friday night. Prior to the arrival of the main storm, light freezing drizzle will be possible this morning, generally along and south of the Minnesota River valley. Snow will then overspread the area late this afternoon and tonight from south to north, then persist through Friday night. There will be a few lulls in the precipitation when it will lighten up or perhaps stop for a brief period of time, but these will be balanced by periods of heavy snowfall. Some sleet or freezing rain is also possible over south central Minnesota and portions of west central Wisconsin, particularly late Wednesday night and Thursday. By the time things wind down Saturday morning, in excess of a foot of snow is expected over much of the area, with some totals likely topping 20 inches."

Oh, I love this, most of us here in MN do to. Some don't.
we have the equipment to deal with it. Roads will be open within
24 hours of the end of the snow.
