Anyone else cold?

Post: # 180622Post Millymollymandy »

We had minus 8.3C this morning and my lake is completely frozen over as it's been getting progressively colder and colder the last 5 days or so. Glorious sunshine and white frosts and looking really Christmassy - snow forecast for tomorrow then after that gradully warming up back to zero and beyond and boring old rain back again. So far our Xmas day forecast is for fog! :( :( :(

Still I suppose the bright side is I will be able to harvest some veg for Crimbo dinner otherwise, shock horror! I might have had to BUY some!

Really cold here and forecast to get colder. The forecast for Friday is -5 for the high and -11 for the low! That is colder than I am used to.

Cold enough here to freeze the animal's drinking water, but not a whole lake.

Sorry about that but I have been sweating all afternoon working in the brilliant sunshine :sunny:
This morning there was a very slight frost ... faint white patches in the hollows of grass tussocks, but no ice, and the overnight temperature was +4.2c. It's now 12.8c and a very welcomed change from the last 2 months of solid rain every day and I am making the most of it by getting my big greenhouse rebuilt. I dismantled it back in February thinking that I could spend all summer rebuilding it, but on the odd day it didn't rain I had to mow my waist high grass and all the other more important jobs.
Mustn't be too smug though as it's forecast to get colder here by Friday as well.
Tony

It seems to have done nowt but rain here for at least 2 months. It's horrid and it's cold - so I've spent all day in my flanalette pyjamas, smuggly poncho and slippers cuddling a hot water bottle!

Cold here in Sussex. Floodwater all frozen, logs in the woodstore welded together with ice. Dog needs to go out and people keep telling me it is nearly Christmas! pbf.

We had quite a hard frost at the weekend but then back to the quite mild weather. Today was lovely until about lunchtime, however, the wind has changed direction and the temperature has plummeted. My neighbour tells me we in for a cold snap

He was still eyeing up the sea to go bodyboarding though!!!!

It got good and cold here last week. My brother lives on the prairies and it was -40 where he was; -50 with the wind chill. Yikes!

We live on the coast, so our climate is more like your British climate. We didn't go below about -5. Still, it was cold enough for long enough to freeze the lakes deep enough for skating. It's warming up again now (+9 right now), but it will be a while before the lakes thaw.
