New member from Argentina
Hello to the self-sufficientish community from sunny San Rafael, in the province of Mendoza, Argentina. I am a Canadian ex-pat living on a 7.5 hectare property in this beautiful fruit-growing region near the Andes mountains. My husband and I have raised chickens, pigs and goats and lived a semi-self-sufficient lifestyle involving gardening, cheesemaking, and viticulture. We now grow fruit and alfalfa on our farm, and trade goods and services with others in the very diverse ex-pat community. At the grassroots level, we have introduced the green fabric bag as an alternative to plastic by donating a batch from Canada to the local grocery store. The concept is catching on, and it is great to see the neighbourhood children bringing their green bags to the store. Environmental awareness is just beginning to be an issue here in Argentina.
I enjoy cooking and have created a blog exploring combinations of regional food and wine.

Re: New member from Argentina
Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone.
Rama Caida is the district where I live, just southeast of the city of San Rafael. It means "fallen branch" which seems appropriate, as I am the only branch of our family tree that has ended up this far South of the equator.

HI and welcome

Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!
