Site misdirections?

Post: # 174876Post MKG »

Is it me? Am I going doolally? (correction: even more doolally).

Increasingly, the main forum page is showing the latest postings on threads - name, date, time - it's all there - and then when the thread is opened, the posting is nowhere to be found.

I wouldn't mind, but my bacon sandwiches get cold while I'm looking for stuff that doesn't exist. Mind you, that's more or less the story of my life.

But ... is there a site gremlin which is inventing these things?

Well I went to the home page and this thread was there in the latest postings. I clicked on it, and it brought me here  But thank you for drawing my attention to the new front page. Lovely photo of Andy and Dave there. :thumbright:

Are we talking about the forum index page, or the main site? There's no photos on the forum.

Mike - I don't know which way you use the forum i.e. view new posts or come into a thread you are watching from an email, but it may well be that you get a notification of a new post or the light shows up that there's been a new posting on a thread, but it was a spammed post which has been deleted. I get emails for new posts on threads I'm watching and if I just get put into the first page I know it was a spammed thread, as normally you're taken automatically to the place where you last read that thread. I don't follow the forum by the lights showing new posts but I suspect spam posts light up then the light stays on even if the post is deleted.

Hope this makes sense!

It's the forum idex page, but I think it's sorted - you'll be very surprised, I know, to learn that it was probably me. For some reason, I never see the subforums at the top of some pages - and that's where the phantom postings are, I've discovered.

Pretend I never started this thread
