You all seem to be such proficient chefs. Well here is a place to share some of that cooking knowledge. Or do you have a cooking problem? Ask away. Jams and chutneys go here too.

I visited my plot early this morning for carrots, leeks and onions. I had some nice farmer,s market lamb mince, so it was a batch of shepherd's pies!

i blanch root veg and mushrooms, but not beans cos i dont really see a difference lol!!!

i have seen a difference since getting a little hand held bean slicer though, much neater, no cramp hahaha.

i went to the supermarket this morningn, bought my new bags of flour and packs of fat for making batches of pastry but forgot flipping freezer bags!!!

I don't blanch parsnips and one year on they are still as good as fresh out of the ground. Trouble is I have about 5 kilos of parsnips from last year still in the freezer. I think I need to only sow one row in future!

Is everyone still cooking?

I have just put three leek and macaroni bakes in the freezer. I am starting to run out of room now lol.

Hoping to make some plum jam tomorrow.

Jampot

I remember those days well. Then anything nice that you had to eat, got eatten by someone else first :(

Its Mac n Cheese, with sauted leeks and breadcrumbs on the top. Its quiet tasty for a chance. When I was a student I used to work in a pub, this was on there menu with garlic bread for £7.

Enjoy it, Nikki
