A word in praise of ...

Post: # 167801Post MKG »

... our moderators.

I've belonged to a forum or two where moderators don't moderate - they consider themselves arbiters of opinion.

I've belonged to a forum or two where the moderators were nothing more than arrogant thugs.

I've seen a forum or two where, as a result of the above, the membership consisted of nothing more than the moderators themselves.

Here, it's a tad different. Since I joined, the number of times I've seen moderator intervention in anything other than a very gentle way is extremely low (how many fingers do you need on one hand?). That's partly due to a very sensible membership, but it's also due to the moderators themselves doing their job very well. How many people actually know, without stopping to think, who our moderators are? That's the big secret of good modding.

So, as I happen to have a glass of plum wine next to my keyboard, here's to the continued gentle ministrations of a very special set of people. Cheers, mods

Mike

Yes they do a great job. This is a really pleasant forum to be a member of. Of course it is due to the cool members but also to the very good job that the moderators do. Keep up the good work! :salute:

Just yesterday evening I was thinking the same thing as Mike. So a toast (well, I drink tea...) to our moderators!

Thanks Guys...

I try to moderate just things that need moderating. I beieve that everyone is entitled to their own opinions (and that does include the fellow mods...), and if i disagree, i disagree. I'd rather debate than argue or shut down.
