Self sufficientish organic fair trade bags shall we buy in?
To order tote bags we have to get 100 in. The shop is just up the road so I could go and pick them up myself. Possibly 100 is too much although if we sell them for £3.65 a bag then if we only have to sell 33 (including the cut paypal will take) to break even and there definetly seems to be a lot of interest. - I was going to orginally sell them at £3.50 a bag then I noticed that for fair trade organic cotton they are only 15p more.
Shall I set up a page to sell them and get advanced orders in? Along with the cash for the ads at the end of this month I am thinking we could definetly could get this off the ground and have bags out by May.
They could have the logo on them with www.selfsufficientish.com and .Tv and carry a bag written on them. - they will be in black and white though, but I think that it is much better to have something like this that is fair trade and organic than to worry about having a splash of colour.
Postage and packing
Packaging will be free as I have a box full of jiffy bags that I got from freecycle.
I am thinking that postage looks like it will work out as £0.35 for one-two bags, £0.71 for three-four and 83p for five-six bags. That is 2nd class Uk only post.
For outside the UK surface mail the costs are £0.67(for 1-2), £0.90(3-4) and between £1.13 and £1.36(5-6) so not a huge amonunt extra for postage costs.
So is this a goer?

Actually, nothing says that they are tote bags on their site. Can you make out the size of the handles in this pic?
Not sure why I called them tote bags, I think they are just bags. I will pop in tomorrow if I get time and have a look.

I think the organic and fairtrade is far more important than the colour....
Are you going to set up a page so we can order??

I shall set up the page in a week, is that ok? Just judging that we have enough interest and can afford it. Or shall I set up a page for taking orders without cash for now. That way I can count up if we can afford to get them.Shirlz2005 wrote:I think the organic and fairtrade is far more important than the colour....

Yes I think the organic fairtrade is much more important too.

If you just want an idea of numbers why don't we just add to a list here on this thread..... saves setting up a page before it's needed??
I'll take five for definite (and potentially more as I'd like to give them as pressies).
So...
Shirley - 5
