Enamel Pendant

Post: # 160687Post StripyPixieSocks »

Well a year and a half ago I was given an enamelling kiln and lots of other stuff to go with it and I kept meaning to use it but kept chickening out lol

Well tonight I used it and made my first pendant and I am over the moon about it :D

This is the kit I was given: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stripypixi ... otostream/

This is my new pendant: http://www.flickr.com/photos/stripypixi ... 714575888/

Oh dear... there goes any of the spare time I *did* get between doing everything else

Well done you  , I've got absolutely no idea what goes into making enamel but (probably like you!) the word KILN sounds scary!

I think your butterfly is a meadow brown too - we have loads of them about here at the moment so that's the first thing I thought when I saw it (sorry I get diverted when looking at photos.... )

That's pretty impressive for a first attempt! It's lovely and it will be a fab feeling knowing you made it yourself and nobody else has got one like it :thumbright:

That is seriously impressive SPS!

You should consider selling those, you could make a fortune with a little stall at the right 'craft' fair.

I do sell them, that's what I do innit

... make and sell jewellery that is!

I'm just experimenting and getting my technique down on copper as I want to enamel on fine silver (which is stupid expensive to mess up) and then they will be going on my website / store :) Don't want anything going on my store until I'm sure it's of sufficient quality.

Unfortunately the craft fair circuit isn't a good place right now, lots of my friends have been selling nothing at all :(

I even had a lovely, pretty Chinese lady stop me in Sainsbury's today and ask me where I got my pendant (I was wearing the green / yellow one I made the next day) so they look like they might be popular which is nice.

So chuffed people like them, thanks for all your kind words *is very smiley*

Wow, that's a blast from the past  I remember those kilns so well, and you did really well for your first go, we used to run workshops for kids using them, (bet the elf and safety won't let you do that these days?) it was easier to collect copper back in the day, but if you chat up the local plumbers for scrap bits you could easily make your own blanks, have fun!
