New to the world of veggies in the garden!

Post: # 156234Post susanbutcher »

Hello, we live in east sussex, and after 33 years have finally got a vegetable plot! I am experimenting with what will grow in the three raised beds. Our soil is very grey sandy soil and to help it I have added a lot of compost which I have had to buy in. Not sure if I have added too much as although the veg { sweetcorn, lettuce, tomatoes, runner and French beans} are still alive, they do not seem to be flourishing, though the brassicas are. Everything seems to be a bit yellow. Any ideas. PS think this is a lovely site. Suggestions please and also what could we put in now to take us over the winter.

Hi Susan.

Welcome to Ish.

As for your veg - yellowing often means a magnesium deficiency, which seems to be quite common. A spoonful of epsom salts in your watering can should help.
