Just a quickie, I fancy having a go at the Ish nettle beer reciepe -http://www.selfsufficientish.com/nettlebeer.htm
I just am a little curious about the yeast, the reciepe asks for fresh yeast, any ideas where I could get this from? or could I just use dried yeast and just stir it in?
cheers
Rob

nettle beer
the ever growing luvpie household currently contains, 4 boys, 4 chickens, 2 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 fish, an empty tropical fish tank waiting new arrivals, now are we daft to look at our broody hen thinking, if we got some fertilised eggs........

^^ Most supermarkets with a bakery give it away... I have recently got some from the one that starts with a T (and ends in cos) I would imagine you could also get it from a local bakery (as long as they make their own bread on site)? As I understand it they just keep it growing and always have more than they can use... I'd love to know how to grow it though... I think T**cos are getting p'd off with me asking for fresh yeast every time I go in there... and rarely actually buying anything

Re: nettle beer
Made last years batch with dried yeast. Turned out just fine . Would recommend putting it into a barrel instead of bottling, lost a few exploding ones!

Water, sprinkling of yeast & sugar. Add a teaspoon of sugar every other day.Claripup wrote:I'd love to know how to grow it though... I think T**cos are getting p'd off with me asking for fresh yeast every time I go in there... and rarely actually buying anything
If you want it to grow like the clappers add yeast nutrients (I get mine from wilkos).
