what the hell else can go wrong?!
1. laptop has been returned with system preparation tool still showing and i may have to return it to asus again... mind you, theyre being very helpful and trying to sort it without me having to send it to them.
2. i am feeling ill this morning because i didnt swallow my prozac properly last night and didnt realise it had stuck until about 3am when i woke with really painful heartburn. have done all i can to rid myself of it and it still feels like something's stuck in my throat.
3. and my ibs is playing up so i have diarrhoea.
4. and james went back to work this morning.
finally and this one's a doosie:
5. last night when moving furniture i saw some mould on the wallpaper in the back room. i checked it out and the mould was the only thing holding the paper on... kind of the same as our bedroom, only worse.
removed the worst of the paper and was surprised to find it's wet. so's the wall. i checked it all out and there's what looks like MAJOR damp extending the full length of the extension, but stopping when it gets to the original part of the house. looks like it's been building for YEARS and nobody's noticed.
i have emailed the estate agent advising they get a professional to look at it, moved stuff away from the wall and treated everything with mould killer. i hate having to use that stuff but it's the only stuff which actually works properly.
i am worried about the livingroom, it's part of the same extension and that exernal wall is internally clad in tongue and groove wood so any problems wont be as aparent as in the wallpapered back room. it doesnt smell damp though.
oh well. at least the rats in the loft havn't come back *roll eyes*
on the upside, soph's being wonderful lol!

Can't do much about most of those except offer sympathy but a doctor once told me that if you have a pill trapped in your throat it sometimes feels like it's there for a while after it's gone.
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

from me too. Sometimes you just have those days. Look on the bright side, it's not you that has to pay to have the damp sorted out
You've had your share of bad luck now for this year so everything's going to go brilliantly from now on.

Oh, Mrs F - don't we all have days like that
Mind you, the mould problem sounds like the same as ours - our extension is the bathroom & kitchen & doesn't look as though it's been damp-proofed at all, so that's another thing to put on our list of to-do things.
I found that soda crystals & vinegar clean the area up nicley though - but I'm loathe to paint the bathroom until we know we've cracked it - else what's the point?
Hope the weekend is better for you though...

Re: what the hell else can go wrong?!
reply from the agent... i sent another email this morning. I have added my mental comments in bold lol!
Hi James, Emma,
I apologise for not responding sooner? however we havent any other e-mails in connection with this matter? have heard this too many times to believe it any more.anyway I have appointed a company called VPS to come and have a look and to report back as you can appreciate with these matters it could be quite serious so will need to have a proper damp investigation done. no sh1t sherlock. landlord's not going to be happy at having to shell out money though, should we start packing?!
with regards to the guttering my handyman is on holiday for a week so upon his return will ask him to come and sort out guttering and mixer tap.yay, no more holding it shut with a hairband!!

Yep - start packing, a tent in a thunderstorm would be more fun so long as it's been waterproofed.
Either that or be prepared to have great discussions, do much nagging and involve all the powers that be to help you. Been down the road of damp and the two flats in this building have an ongoing issue with the matter despite the best endeavours of the housing association to fail to deal with an elderly building that they inherited rather than built.
Good luck.

The joys of housing! - but landlords must take responsibility - all that and you still sent my chilli seeds! And you still produce beautiful craft items. And you take care of that lovely wee girl of yours. And you are running a home and dealing with all of the c**p which goes with that.
Actually, you are amazing!

Re: what the hell else can go wrong?!
Be careful, BUT in this economic climate most landlords are pretty wary about loosing tenants, you may have some leverage there - after all from his perspective, better the 'devil' that the landlord knows... ;)
Good Luck!
