Grrrrrrrrrrr wind damage

Post: # 147897Post buggalugs »

Grrrrrrrrrrr the wind yesterday was a real nuisance :( It blew one of the windows completely through in my shed, which meant in a howling winds and rain I had to TRY to make it waterproof........ ok I had the things to do it, but not enough arms and hands!!!! meanwhile my mini greenhouse took a gust under the cover  and all my seed pots were thrown around
Oh well  the good news is today the sun is shining :sunny: and I have been able to put some things back in place lol I am going to pot up a few more bits and pieces and see what the rest of the week brings lolol.
Oh if anyone does read this I have a question please.
I ordered a compost bin through local council site but there is nowhere that tells me how long they take to come. does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Jacqui,

We got a compost bin from Lancs CC 3 or 4 yrs ago - I'd almost forgotten all about it when it came!! I think it was about 5 weeks & they also sent a kitchen caddy as well  which I wasn't expecting....

I hope Bolton's council doesn't take that long, but you might find a tel number on their site & give them a call?

And let's hope the winds die down & don't do any more damage.... but never underestimate it - you can build something an elephant would struggle with, but the wind just gets in there & does it's worst!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

Thanks Julie :) I will take a look see if I can find a number :) They will be sick of my voice soon lol I have been on the phone twice this week already asking why my green bin wasn't emptied.. apparently they broke down, but they were coming again yesterday.. no show ...... and again today. I am waiting but won't hold my breath lolol. I have righted the seed pots but I think I will have to sow my seeds again :( Oh well at least its easy otting up lol, I have just put a brick border down and I am going to start the hard work of digging later :thumbright:
Have a great day :)

Wind is a real pain - I once had a plastic greenhouse that lasted all of about 4 days before it blew over in a slight gust of wind and the whole metal frame buckled. It was pegged in with the ineffective pegs they sell with these things. And yes half my seedlings and pots landed upside down..... :cussing: So now I just use cold frames as they seem to stay put! Sorry about all your damage buggalugs. :(

We were luck with the wind... didn't even do anything to the half-built poly-tunnel (one trench still not filled, no doors on it yet) I must say though the winds were very strong, so at least I won't be worried about my tunnel flying away.... if it was going to, it would ave done it by now.

I'ts still early in the year though - plenty more time for getting stuff planted

My compost bin took around 6 weeks I think - however, we ordered 3 of the biggest ones and they delivered 6  we have a lot of space hear so it was good  and we got 3 kitchen caddies too.
