Talking of kitchen floors, I think it was on here a while back when we discussed how often or not we washed our kitchen floors. I last did mine before the family came for Xmas.

My problem is that the back door opens into the kitchen so I get a build up of muddy paw prints leading from the cat flap, it's the door I come in when I've been gardening or down at the allotment, and if Katie plays in the garden she's in and out. We have really heavy, wet soil so it sticks to your feet like mad - until you come in. Then of course there are all the bits of food that get trampled in. I used to wash it every week before I started working full-ish time and just didn't have time any more. When I left that job I had Katie and still didn't have time. Now I'm just so busy doing things that make the floor a mess I still don't have time to clean it often! :?

Haha!! A delightful thread, even if I have absolutely no idea what you're all saying......

I've had a few days of teen boredom here too, mind - did nothing yesterday because it was raining.
I have a pile of ironing to do, washing to sort, bread to make, a cake to make, need to clean the fishtank, need to have a dust in the lounge (even tho I've not been in there since last week!) oh, so many things to do..... And as for floor washing..... yep, mine got done properly before chrimbo & the MIL's visit! Like you, Rosie, our kitchen is the main door in for us & wellies, & the dogs.. and mud... and more mud.... so I wash it & the next day you wouldn't know!

Things got so bad yesterday that I ended up watching the afternoon Hallmark film!

Couldn't even be bothered to post on the forum the last few days & have been having a good old fashioned lurk.... maybe it's time to give ourselves a good shake, take a deep breath & get our organised heads on?

But I'll just have a 2nd cup of coffee first.... and maybe a 3rd.....
It might be time to rejuvenate the 'lists' posts again - that always seems to get me motivated, I make lists & don't do half of what goes on them, but I always seem to do better if I 'go public'!

OK, time for brekkie now... and maybe I'll have a giggle at Jeremy Kyle to kick the day off.......
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

I've got a tonne of organising, clearing out, selling on ebay and choosing wwoof hosts to do but instead of doing that I'm stuck at work where I have precisely nothing to do.

Its incredibly frustrating. Especially since by the time I've got home, cooked and eaten dinner and done the everyday chores I've got no energy left for any of it!

Loobyloo - you guys are so lucky these days at work cos you have the internet to play with and can appear 'busy'! It didn't exist when I last worked in an office, typing. It was so hard to try to appear busy when you had absolutely nothing to do and you couldn't just sit and read a book!

Oh and by the way my 'bored' phase has passed I am very happy to say!

Re the kitchen floor - I have a mud room so no dirty shoes or paw prints come in here * so I just wipe off any splots that I notice.

*except the time recently when the ruddy cat trod in some hedgehog or similar poo and spread it all over the kitchen and the living room floors and the sofa until I could catch him, then spent 10 minutes wiping it out of in between his toes. :pukeright:

Very Good point MMM! I'd have gone stir crazy weeks ago if wasn't for you lot and the bbc news website. I work in a training department and we have no trainees since november! Luckily I've just found out that I'll be going to Crewe for two days next week and then the week after that I have new starters to train so its looking up.

(would still rather not be here and be doing the much much more important stuff that needs doing st home!)

Ha! I think I went into my yearly hermit phase.... it happens every so often, but I'm still here... have just potted some aubretia seeds for our banks in the garden - and now ready for bread kneading - will make hubby & puppy a cake in a min too - it's his 1st birthday tomorrow (the pup, not Andy!!) and I always make them a birthday cake...

Slowly crossing chores off the list today... and have moved the ironing to the bottom of the list, I don't want to be doing THAT too soon!

It is such a relief to read this - I have spent the last 2 days moping. I've alternated between moping in the garden whilst surveying the carpets of ground elder just waiting for the battle to commence and moping round the house meditating on the vast list of jobs that need doing. I have managed to hang yesterdays washing out (it rained here too) but have yet to deal with anything significant for today.

I like lists too - maybe I should start with that...

pS I washed my kitchen floor at the weekend  Its filthy already :( although there is no actual poo involved

Yes Big Al... I have days like that quite often have days like that too..... I have just posted pictures of my house on my blog, which might show you why I am so miserable

Talking to a friend today and it seems yesterday was quite a day for doom and gloom, she said she had to keep fighting back the tears all day... though there was no real reason....

I wonder was it a full moon, or was Uranus in Virgo or other such nonsense?

 Gosh I thought it was just me! I was fine all day yesterday until late afternoon when I suddenly started to feel really miserable and sat there crying my eyes out. I couldn't work out why, even when OH asked me. The best I could do was to convince myself its because I've been on a bit of a high recently because of the weather and getting fresh air and exercise, and that this was a 'compensatory low', like what drug users suffer.

It must be something going round then. I've been particularly bored and serious this week.

Not good..not good at all...

I thought it was because it was the first day it had rained in about 3 weeks, coupled with high winds, and having been outside doing stuff in the garden a lot recently it was that cooped up feeling. Yet I'd been (sort of) wanting a rainy day in order to get on and do some things indoors! It's very interesting that so many people felt like poop on that particular day!

Well. Today I plan to do 'some stuff' indoors. Like clean my living room windows which are looking rather misty looking! Then I will don my waterproofs and go and dig up some leeks because a couple of neighbours have said YES PLEASE to having some of my excess leeks!
