Our house!

Post: # 140946Post Elizabeth »

Well today was the big day...........

Exchange of Contracts

We sell our lovely cottage and buy a great house with garden, plenty of room for dogs and veggies and a paddock for sheep, chickens and top fruit trees!

ONLY

IT DIDN'T HAPPEN :pale: :angryfire: :( :cussing:

Looks like we are back to square one - the lady buying our house didn't get her inheritance 'cause the buyer of her late Aunt's house and estate had a heart attack and has decided not to buy. So she can't buy ours anymore!

I had hoped to be digging manure into new veggie plots, instead I need to get ready to plant in containers again.

Just needed to share, especially as hubby is away.

Oh Elizabeth.... :hugish: I am sorry!

I can only sympathise with you - it must be awful when a chain breaks down like this.... We've always been fortunate in that we have never been in a chain with property, but I don't think I'd be able to sleep until the dotted lines were signed & sealed & handed over....

But remember, in these days of dark recession, at least you still have a roof over your head at all.
And, as you say, you live in a lovely cottage - now go plant those pots up!

:hugish: :hugish: Aww that's so sad and frustrating! I do think that things happen for a reason and though it may look bleak right now I'm pretty sure the right thing is heading your way!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free

It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Sorry honey, that's bad news. Hope the woman recovered from her heart attack!

Big Hugs from me too :hugish:

A broken chain is so stressing! But I'll echo Milims; fate has a way of looking bad then being for the best. You may well end up with an even better place, I certainly hope so! (*still need a fingers-crossed smiley!)

Been down that road, then two weeks later someone, told me of a house with land and woods, and far cheaper than the one I missed.

That was 20 yrs ago and I have been here in my Paradise ever since, and I wish for you the same luck and good fortune.

Hi
I've been there too. It had taken ages to get a chain in place and the woman that I was buying from pulled out just as we were all ready to exchange contracts. To be honest she had messed us around all the way through so when she threatened to pull out because the rest of the chain couldn't accommodate her holiday dates I called her bluff.

I went ahead with the sale of mine and moved in with a friend for 4 months but it worked out great in the end. I found this house a few days later and it was a much nicer house, in a better location, with a much bigger garden and 10% cheaper.

These things are meant to be. It may seem like the end of the world but there will be a silver lining, trust me.

Zoe
