A message from Yugogipsy

Post: # 139251Post Milims »

I had a lovely surprise when I came home today - a letter had arrived from Yugo - all the way from Canada. She'd written it at the end of December but it's taken a while to arrive. She's busy doing lots of hard work on her house at the moment and she says that she's computerless for the next couple of months, but she sends her regards to all of you in ish-land!
How lovely it is that this site has brought friends from all over the world!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

Awww, how lovely!

Even with all of our technology, IM's, chat rooms, forums, facebook, txts, etc, etc... it's still wonderful to recieve something through the post that's not a bill!

My youngest sent me a letter just before christmas - popped a few old photos in & even at 18, she drew me little pictures down the side of the page - and I cried!
Oh, she also stuck a 1st class UK stamp on it too - so I had to pay the excess.......

If you write back Milims, say hi from us too! And tell her to hurry back!
The more people I meet, the more I like my garden

I sat down last night with my posh writing paper, that I save for very best, and my posh ink pen and wrote her a reply. It was really lovely to sit at my kitchen table and take the time to write - it really did give me a warm glow - so much nicer than dashing off an e-mail. I think the difference is that you have to take the time to put your thoughts done carefully and make sure you do your best hand writing and that yor spelling is good becau there's no deleting stuff or using a spell checker! And then there's the walk to the post office - I rarely walk thru the village - only when I post a letter  and I really should do it more often! Yes, proper letters are a real art and an all round joy! It's actually the second time this week I've had the pleasure - I was set a challenge to write a letter and have managed to find myself a new pen pal!
I think that we all aught to write more letters - they are lovely to do and lovely to receive!

Now there's one for the suggestion box....how about a 'pool' for letter writing... where we write a letter to a member, & when it's recieved, that member writes a letter to another member... and so on.... ideas anyone? It could be rather nice!
OK, it's not being terribly 'green', but it would brighten up our days when it pops through the letterbox, and what better way to reinforce the friendships already made on here.

Good to know she's doing OK. Isn't it weird how you can miss people you've never even met :?
