Thankyou ish
I just wanted to let everyone know how much I enjoy and appreciate this forum. It was my first venture into this area and I've not only got lots of help and advice, but also feel like I've made some friends - even though I'll probably never meet most of you!
I think what's driven it home is that, as a result of my positive experience here, I've ventured out to look at other forums. I have to say that I've been less than impressed by every one of them so far. I won't mention any names but I've found some of them to be very pompous and humourless with some massive egos at play. And none of them seem to be very active either, presumably for the same reason. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
So thanks, folks, and long may we continue.

Humourless we definitely are not!
and yes I know what you mean about other forums, when I have had enough of the French forums and the constant ranting, raving and arguing I come back here to escape!

Gosh, Green Aura, you have said exactly what I think. I don't really think of this as a 'forum', but more as a community.

Agreed
This forum is an absolute pleasure to be part of and everybody seems to be very laid back and easy to get along with.

I love this site too!
I also agree about the French ones, if you would like to see absolute self-satisfied pomposity at it's best just pop along to a couple of them...

Re: Thankyou ish
I totally agree with all that has been said. I find this place friendly, fun, informative and supportive. The information I have recieved has been brilliant and has made me think very differently. I have also realised that you dont have to have a huge garden or loads of space to do "your bit" , and the satisfaction you get from growing/making/reusing etc is a great feeling.

Re: Thankyou ish
It is great here, everyone wants to and enjoys helping each other with no judgement at all.
I have to admit to a little envy though, of those of you that are further down the self sufficientish road than I am (hmm no green eyed monster smilie!) and to mounting frustration that I'm going to have to wait another 6 months or so before getting our own place again.
But hey that's just me, you guys rock

Re: Thankyou ish
Looks like you certainly hit the spot there, Maggie.
And yes, I agree too.
It's lovely when a chat board/forum/web area becomes like a little community - I was thinking of a time 11 years ago when I had my very first 'meet' which stemmed from an internet chat room.
It was a gathering in Blackpool (I was living near Dover at the time) all the people that I spent hours chatting to online were there - and such a diverse group!! It was funny looking around the venue & suddenly realising that there were some VERY strong friendships between folk who ordinarily wouldn't have looked twice at each other!
11 years on & I am still in touch with a few of these people - indeed, I married one of them
Yep, when you've been on a small scale pub crawl with a male gay couple, an ex marine & a scottish lay preacher and an MP - all of whom never shut up ALL afternoon & certainly, we didn't stop laughing, you realise just how rich the internet CAN make your life - we're blessed with technology that can touch our hearts in this way.
Full credit to Andy & Dave & their 'crew' - for making the land of Ish as lovely as it is.

I agree! I love this place. I look at some other forums and people can be so horrible to each other! This is a lovely haven. Wonderful stuff!
