Argh...i'm so bad at this...

He e-mailed me (i'm not too good at talking on the phone y'see) and asked me out to dinner on Saturday. Naturally, i splutter coffee all over the keyboard (i've never been asked out to dinner before...) and replied with a 'what? like a proper date...?'.

Saturday it is then! Now...what do i wear?!

So - something not too revealing, it HAS to be comfy, so you can breathe after eating
Sparkly is good this time of year, but to be honest, I could have worn a sack in the early days & it wouldn't have mattered to hubby...... Don't overdo the perfume either - you want him to move nearer to you to smell you, not move away because his eyes are watering! (I wish I could get through to my youngest, but after 5 years of telling her, she still gets through a bottle of perfume a month )

Oh, and 'just in case'...... don't wear your big knickers ( think Bridget Jones! )

Have a wonderful time - then let us know ALL the gory details on Sunday... if you can... if not we'll havta wait till Monday, I guess......

Turns out the son of an acquaintance of his looks, sounds, and walks exactly like a younger version of the Goblin King!!!! My "adopted dad" actually negotiated with Sweetheart's dad for us to meet, we sometimes joke that its an arranged marriage. But, he's such a sweetie that I couldn't help but fall for him, and he says the same about me but I'm not sure why :p

Yes, wear something comfy.... and watch out for those hidden panel tummy pants, if I get nervous/excited wearing them I end up with severe wind

I'm probably showing my age now, but I think it's important to wear something you know you'll feel comfortable in - there is nothing worse than being out and constantly having to pull things down (control yourselves!) like a slip that rides up or a bra that's amazingly glam but digs in so you want to pull at it all the time, or a neckline that keeps sitting wrongly.

I bet there is something in your wardrobe that is in a colour that makes you feel good, and a style that you know flatters you, and that you won't feel self-conscious in or have to fiddle with all through dinner (or breathe in all the time!).

I wonder how much men really notice of what we wear, unless it's either truly hideous, or practically indecent, but I bet they pick up on when a woman is feeling uncomfortable or self-conscious and I guess that would be either irritating (he wants you to appear to be focussed on him!) or off-putting.

Ideally, you want to be able to put something on and forget about it, so you can enjoy the company you're in, and he's probably going through exactly the same agonies in his own way, afraid of looking like a geek or a medallion man, or whatever the equivalent extremes are these days!

I hope you have a really nice evening on Saturday, whatever you decide to wear!

We are going somewhere either in Shoreditch of Old street. Not sure where yet, somewhere not too formal, so i can wear my jeans.

I'm going shopping tomorrow and i have an idea of what kind of top i want to wear. Probably won't find it...

I wish people had been able to convince me to go for comfy clothes when I was dating. When I was 'out to impress' I used to wear stuff that looked good when you tried it on and stood still in front of the mirror, but needed constant attention when you were wearing it properly. When I met Richard, I was working in a pub, and I wore comfy clothes to work in - leggings, t-shirt, flat ankle boots. It was his local, and he'd meet 'the lads' in there for the first drink, then disappear for the main part of the evening before coming back for last orders. So I got to see him sober and drunk, and liked them both!

On the subject of drink, remember to sip, not sup.

I bought a lovely soft, smooth feeling top from the Next outlet today (usually, i don't shop in Next, but the top's a nice purple...and it was a fiver...), and probably my favourite jeans, or my nice trousers.

So...clothing sorted...not going to have time to dye my hair before i go out tomorrow (was supposed to do it tonight, but i got roped in to waitressing at an event...) so i'm going to leave it loose and lovely and try not to dip it in my dinner too much...And i'm going to wear my comfy chunky boots. Feminine they ain't, but comfy they are!

Sounds great! Something new that you'll feel 'dressed up' in without being self-conscious, and jeans/trousers that you already know you'll be comfortable in. Ideal combination I reckon.
Perhaps I've been reading too much romantic fiction, but could you pin your hair up loosely and simply, so if things get a little more 'relaxed' you can enchant him all over again by letting it down?
Yep, I've definitely been reading too much romantic fiction! My husband's fault - he decided he'd make our fortune by writing a raunchy bodice-ripper(!) but it is turning into something much sweeter and rather old-school Mills and Boon, bless him! Quite a surprise, as he's a big hairy bear of a man with a penchant for knocking down walls!

I'm just going to give my hair a really good brush. It could do with it. I was going to dye it, but i don't think he's quite ready for Fee with purple ears yet...i'll leave that for some time...
