Thoroughly fed up!

Post: # 133938Post SarahJane »

As some of you know, I have been suffering with problems with my jaw and teeth for nearly a year. I was finally booked in for an operation to sort it all out on 3rd December. Although dreading the actual precedure, I was just looking forward to getting rid of the pain and getting it all over and done with before christmas.
Three days before I was due in hospital I came down with a really nasty virus. Very similar to flu, except that I had already had a flu jab. It totally knocked me off my feet and the operation had to be cancelled!! Gutted to say the least. Since then the virus hasnt improved, I have been off work over 2 weeks and spent most of that time in bed, shivering with a sore throat, hacking cough, coughing up blood and temeratures one minute and shivery the next.
Then I started being sick and having awful headaches and now I have lost the feeling in the right side of my face! My doctor has been brilliant , and has been keeping her eye on me, and although you arent generally given antibiotics for viruses, she was concerned about the numbness of the face. So I am just about to start a second course of antibiotics.
The only time I have been out of the house is to go to the doctors and I am feeling really sorry for myself!
Christmas is just around the corner and I have done nothing, nor do I have the energy to do much tbh. All I have done is write some xmas cards and a neighbour posted them for me.
I AM going to go out today as I need to post my secret santa parcel, I just hope that it gets to the recipient in time. Apologies if it does end up being a bit late.
All in all, I am thouroughly fed up!
Sorry for the moan everyone! :flower:
Gotta wait until the new year for the op too!

I was just thinking about you a few days ago and thought it would all be sorted by now. What a nuisance and now you have something else to cope with. And something which hasn't been diagnosed yet too, and sounds pretty nasty to boot. I suppose you were already low from the ongoing teeth problem so wide open to anything going around.

I hope you will feel better very quickly and can get your appointment re-scheduled asap.

Thanks for that. I have just been out into the big wide world, all I wanted to do was go to the post office and go and pick a prescription up. I have to say I was feeling lousy tbh, made the fatal mistake of not putting my seat belt on and got stopped by the police! He was actually very nice and let me off with a warning, but because it is christmas , he breathalised me. I have never been breathalised in my life! I knew it would be fine, as I havent had a drink for weeks, but very embarressing! I got home and then realised my tax disc ran out at the end of last month, so have frantically phoned up the DVLA and ordered a new one!!!! I am not going out of the house again!

i think its back into my jamas and back under the duvet for me today!!! :flower:

I'm thinking of you over here! I empathise completely. Could the face thing be connected to the jaw and teeth?

Glad to hear that Secret Santa's getting you out into the fresh air!

I just hope that the prezzie gets there in time.

The virus brought on really bad sinisitus, and they thought the numbness maybe due to it being a really bad does of it, but the numbness isnt following any of the 3 main nerves on my face. I thought that it might be to do with my teeth etc but the doc didnt seem to think so. Its weird, the right hand side of my face is completely numb, from the bridge of my nose, across my bottom eyelid and down as far as my top lip. I cant feel the right hand side of my nose at all, I cant tell if my nose is running or my eye is watering. The only good thing at the moment is my teeth arent hurting! :flower:

Just to add a bit of humour to the morning, I decided before I went and hid under the duvet again, I would take the wheelie bin out ready for the morning. I took it down the lane at the back and slipped over in the ice!
I am a health hazard today! But even I had to laugh! :flower:

Awww I don't really have much to say that the others haven't already said but I do wish you good health and a swift recovery. Don't forget to wrap up warm when you go out as it's freezing!

... as for slipping on the ice... just tell people you were trying to break a bar of chocolate in your back pocket

Given how suddenly the numbness set in, please have your doctor look into things like bell's palsy (caused by lyme's disease), it may be a symptom of something far more serious!

Hi Sarah Jane - sorry to hear you're so unwell. I'm coming down to Ashton next week and I see you're somewhere near - if you fancy a treatment (aromatology) I could bring my box of tricks. PM me if you're interested.

I have been signed off for another week. :( The virus itself is slowly getting better, although I am still getting temperatures and the shivers etc. My face is still completely numb on the right, which is why I am at home still. The doc has given me another week of entibiotics but neither of us are sure that they are helping. I think they ruled out bells palsy as my muscles in my face are ok. ( no drooping of the mouth or eyelid) Occasionally I get the sensation of something crawling across my face, and the doc is hoping that its a sign that the nerves are trying to work again. Time will tell. :flower:
