Re: Caffeine withdrawal
I love coffee, the stronger the better but now that I suffer from colitis, a cup of coffee starts my insides bubbling like mad and ive had to give it up
I do drink Earl Grey tho - maybe thats why ive not had any withdrawals.

Re: Caffeine withdrawal
I only have caffeinated stuff when out, or if we have a bottle of coke at home. i ted to go on a caffeine binge every month or so but it leaves me in such a state. caffeine exascerbates a slight valve problem i have in my heart and it's uncomfortably like having a mini heart attack when i overdo it. at first i thought it was run of the mill palpitations; but it's aparently not...
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

Re: Caffeine withdrawal
i had an awful caffeine withdrawal as i had a fiendish addiction to Diet Coke. after going through withdrawal i thought i'm not ever going through that again and have not picked up the habit again!

Re: Caffeine withdrawal
I was interested to read the theory that caffeine encourages the body to hang on to fat - about three months ago I switched from drinking black coffee to drinking tea with a tiny splash of soya milk. Can't say I've noticed any weight loss, quite the contrary if the truth be known - is someone about to tell me that soya milk multiplies its calorie content when added to tea? I could believe that!

Fact is, even if you've changed absolutely nothing else, you've added calories to your daily intake since black tea or coffee with no sugar each contain zero calories. Even if it's just a teaspoonful of milk, it's still more calories than you used to have.
To give you a f'rinstance, 65 calories a day over your required amount will cause noticeable weight gain over the course of a month. And to put that into context, there are roughly 65 calories in one of those small pats of butter you get in cafes.
Alternatively, always drink your tea standing up. There are no calories in food you eat standing up

Re: Caffeine withdrawal
*eats a packet of biscuits standing up* yum!
apparently caffeine also exacerbates pain so since i've cut right down (only have caffeine in chocolate now) my PMS cramps have become much less severe.
