Christmas trees
Christmas trees
I decided to go for a more sustainable Christmas tree this year and have bought one with roots. What I wanted to know is if I can grow it outside after 12th night. Or will the damage be done after being inside for so long. Should I be water it? I have heard that I should not put tree lights on it, is that correct?

Christmas trees
Hi Guest, it all depends on how long the tree was dug up before you bought it. It should survive up to about two weeks in a house. It must be potted in in a drained pot in good soil and you right you should not put lights on it as this dries out the tree and will damage any chance of new growth in the Spring. Do not put it in a dark corner it needs plenty of light. Never actually tried this myself as I normally don't bother with christmas decorations, not that I am a scrooge I just always go to my parents house over Christmas.

Re: Christmas trees
I buy those small 6inch or so high christmas trees, usually covered with the imitation snow and grow these on outside and gradually pot on into larger and larger pots ,until you want to stop. The one i have now is 6 feet high in a half beer barrel.Anonymous wrote:I decided to go for a more sustainable Christmas tree this year and have bought one with roots.
