Magic Moments

Post: # 127780Post oldfella »

Today I had a magic moment, you know, when your heart seems to swell and fill your chest, and the world around you seems to glow and you are full of pure joy. A few minutes ago my granddaughter phoned me to say, 'I love you grandad' and then put the phone down. As she is only 8 years old and living in Martinique, I phoned back to find out what was going on, and her mum knew nothing about it and when she asked the little one what it was about she told her that she wanted Grandad not to forget her because she loved him she could not see him for a long time.

So I wonder what magic moments any of you folk have had throughout your lives.
I can't do great things, so I do little things with love.

You just made my Monday morning - this is what people are really about! :sunny:
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less travelled by
And that has made all the difference.

When my strapping 6 foot, 17 year old son saw his mate being awful to his mum and came home put his arms round me and said "You know I love you, right" or when my 19 year old daughter rings me everyday when she is not home just to say hello,
I could go on, it is endless
My Dad telling me how proud he was when I graduated with my degree
Geography is just physics slowed down, with a couple of trees stuck in it.

mine today is a toss up between sophie wanting to use the phone to talk toher granny and inform her she farted this morning; ok this means very little to everyone else but soph's had diarrhoea for a few days so farting without pooping was high on her adgenda today hahaha!! the other side of the toss is that tomorrow me and mum have planned to ditch our kids on their dads and get in her car to go sit down at the nature reserve and chat about all the crap stuff going on at the moemnt in our lives and try to put our lives right by talking it out and drinking hot chocolate. she's just found out her injuries from an accident recently are worse than first thought, and I'm working through the mental crap the best way i can BEFORE i see a psychiatrist (the appointment's still not through!) and I hope chatting to my mum will help.
oh how I love my tea, tea in the afternoon. I can't do without it, and I think I'll have another cup very

My magic moment was on friday when my daughter, who's doing a degree in nursing, rang me up to help her with her homework. Such faith! I've not done general nursing for 20 years.

I've had lots... some strange ones recently!

Holding my Niece for the first time when she was only 1 hour old.

My OH's text simply saying "I'm here" when he arrived at the train station for our first meeting in the flesh so-to-speak

Meeting my OH for the first time in person after 2 months of chatting online and being agonisingly far away from each other.

Moving to London

and an odd one...

Despite all the awful things going on lately I sat here the other day and realised that despite everything I wouldn't be anywhere else or have it any different even if times are extraordinarily tough right now :)

When my little C ockatiel cuddles up on my shoulder... I've had lots of magic moments with her... more than I can list... bless her :)

and a favourite Magic Moment (which happens alot)

... just when I think I can't go on when I'm having a bad depression day... a big bear hug from my OH and a 'Don't worry, you'll be fine" works every time!

There's lots of them to be honest :)

One of the other online forums has had a "problem member", who started out fine but has gradually been getting bolder with his attempts to rile people into starting a flame war. Yesterday he posted a response to a request by the admins to tone down his posts, by saying that since no one had openly said they were offended that his posts couldn't possibly be offensive. I replied by saying if that was what was needed, then I volunteer as an offended party, then I politely went through the list of things that poster had said that I had found insulting, and explained that the reason I hadn't spoken up was because he was already being rebuked and I thought that should have been the end of it.

My magic moment came when the assistant-admin saw my post, and replied that "From the ashes of a terrible series of posts comes an image of beauty." and said that the trust and respect I and others in the group had shown was what made that group worthwhile.

Then he banned the jerk.

Oh Charlie - that's one of the most magic of all.
