ever wondered....'what just happened'???

Post: # 126220Post Annpan »

I have just somehow thrown myself on the floor, backwards dragging a metal stair gate with me and landing on a giant metal box...ouch.

I was trying to get through the stair gate that sits between our living room and our dining room, somehow I fell and landed facing the other way, on top of both the stair gate and a metal file box.

I have hurt my left arm, wrist and hand, both thighs, my right shin, my left ankle and foot, My ribs and my stomach...

I will be black and blue tomorrow but I just can't quite understand exactly how I fell :?

Just glad the stair gate wasn't at the top of a flight of stairs :pale:

Has anyone else had a moment like that?

............hope you are OK!!!! Plenty of arnica I think.

I have been known to put my gloves in the freezer and ice cream in the drawer....not quite the same thing (and much less painful)... but I did wonder how I managed. :flower:

Ouch... that sounds painful. Agree with the arnica recommendation.

Gentle hugs.

Ouch! Hope you are feeling better soon.
Don't worry I do stuff like that all the time! Once, whilst running to catch up with a friend, I tripped over his foot and was launched Superman - like into the air, horizontal with one arm out in front of me. Somehow I flipped over mid air and landed flat on my back! The strange thing was it felt like it was happening in slow motion!

Ouch - poor thing. I hope it isn't too painful.

I go in and out of my garage everyday. There is quite a high threshold (to keep the rain out) and I usually manage to step over it perfectly well. About 5 months ago I missed and ended up on the floor with a huge gash on my shin and bruises all over my legs. I still have the scar and the bruise on my ankle is still swollen. Ouch. How did that happen?

I agree with the arnica - it will work wonders if you can rub some arnica gel into the potential bruise areas.

Last time we were back in the UK I managed to do a very spectular dive from one of the garden terraces where our washing line lives late one evening (it's a very steep garden, upwards) over some flower pots and onto the steps below. Probably about 6 feet down head first, swiftly followed by a concrete flower pot which landed on my head. Knocked myself out for a few seconds, two VERY black eyes, covered in bruises, whiplash and a large gash on the forehead and I have NO idea how I did it.

Comment from OH? - "Hmm, you've broken that pot now... how many glasses of wine was that?"
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Ouch! Those darn baby gates are a hazard I swear!

I tripped backwards over a wire and bashed my head on the oven door. All I could think was "don't black out!" and "don't wake the baby!"

Oh dear...

Yes, I know what you mean. I once managed to run full tilt into a table at the end of a corridor (I knew it was there, don't know I managed it). I still have a dent on my leg even though it was years ago.

Hope you heal quickly!
Smile :)

I agree with the arnica, I used to be so accident prone as a kid the teachers when I started infant school were concerned I was an abused child until they saw that I could fall over my own shadow, I was nicknamed Robert the Bruise at that age.

While racing from the parking lot to the front door of my college, with a heavy pack on my back, I somehow tripped on a flat section of pavement. My knee left an 18-inch streak on the asphalt, and the asphalt left a permanent gray "tattoo" on my knee.

What's amazing was it didn't hurt at all until the next day. I didn't even realize I was bleeding until after I got to the door and noticed that my sock was wet. There were entire rocks embedded in the skin deep enough that they didn't come out until the next day.

Ouch to all of your postings! Annpan I hope you recover soon, it sounds very painful.

Isn't it irritating that we can do all those things when we are kids and just get a few bruises that we hardly ever notice? I was once climbing up some sort of frame at a 'do' at my brother's school and fell and landed on my back on a round barbecue - which LUCKILY  wasn't lit - but I had amazing bruises all over my back.

Then there was the time at the riding school when a rather volatile pony decided to just gallop straight at me - my friends scarpered but I stood my ground and she knocked me over and galloped over my back resulting in horsehoe bruises all over me  I just got up unfazed and uninjured. These days that would have killed me! (no actually I'd have scarpered like everyone else, very sensibly!!! )

As an aside some of the above might go towards answering the question a radiology doc asked me a few years ago when deciphering X-rays of my back - "Have you had many falls?".

I was on the at risk register for a short time following a particularly disadterous holiday when i was 7 lol! it involved an incredibly clumsy child, a badly parked caravan step (and my legs, belly and chin), a thorny bush, a dog bite when i fell over a dog lead and the dog decided to lash out (not our dog!), a park swing wich i fell off twice. Each time I fell off it forwards, got up to see what happened, got hit in the back of the head, fell down again, turned round to see what'd gone one and got it in the forhead on the riccochet from the back of my head...!!!!! I came home covered in scrapes, bruises and a dog bite. god knows what my poor health visitor must have thought!!!

yes, normally though mine involves either duplo bricks, toy cars or my uncanny ability to fall UP the stairs and bang my boobs and chin.

I second the commentsa about arnica, it works wonders. *hugs*

Ouch to everyones postings! I dont have anything nearly as good as that, although recently at work I was unloading the crisp boxes from a high shelf and somehow they managed to wobble like they were going to fall down so I grabbed one before it fell, forgot how light it would be so really yanked it and ended up bashing myself full on in the face. I had to lock up the shop for 10 minutes and have a cup of tea for the shock! Dunno how I managed to really hurt myself with a cardboard box.

I am EXTREMELY clumsy....but then, I am dyspraxic, so that's my excuse...

But it doesn't how, or where, I fall, I ALWAYS seem to break my nose. Even if my nose was nowhere near impact, it always seems to end up broken.
I took my dog to play frisbee. She was useless. I think I need a flatter dog.
