I very rarely go to McD's, and I don't like their burgers anyway, but I have been and eaten there before, but I am having trouble believing this is a 12 year old burger that she has kept in a tub for all this time.
I think most people would accept that McDonalds burgers are not the healthiest form of snack, however there seem to be flaws in this persons arguments. Although she obviously means well and truly is trying to educate parents about what their children eat, doing so in this way that doesn't seem to stand up to scrutiny leads to all of the negative comments that have been posted on her blog. Whilst I cringe to read some of the ignorant comments that some people have left she is an easy target for all those people who believe that people who are concerned with nutrition, who eat organic and who grow their own are "crazy hippies".

Whilst I may be a crazy hippy lady (according to my children), it has nothing to do with my desire to eat fresh, home grown produce

If this truly is a 12 year old burger, there must be some way of proving it.
I know she said she put the burger on a newer wrapper for visual effect, but why would you? I don't quite get that bit, surely she was keeping the burger for this reason (to educate) so why not keep the old wrapper too?

Perhaps if someone is willing to buy a burger sometime soon and keep it in a plastic tub, say for a year, then show us a picture, it might go some way to proving or disproving what the lady is suggesting. Any volunteers??

I didn't understand why she would do that, either. I can't get on the link now, but didn't she say her friend suggested it for the photo? I think it makes it appear less convincing. Like you, I think the original packaging would have been a better option.

after reading all and looking it up on google,i will still give macdonalds a visit as a treat for my kids, they arn`t overweight and eat healthily on a daily basis,so a treat is ok for me,even though they obviously dont agree with me when i`m pregnant!what puzzles me abit is why did she keep the burger in the first place? i find it hard to believe, its got to be a joke,

The recent problems with toxins in food from China puts this question of long-lasting McDonalds into rather distant perspective.

At home, we've shortened our food supply chain quite effectively I think, but the worry is what all family members get fed in institutional settings and when eating out.

Sweet bean paste with nerve toxins anyone?
