Hen picked

Post: # 120858Post Thomzo »

Hi
Well I finally got around to taking some picks of the hens in their various homes.

The ex-bats in their run made from a security cage from a computer company that was closing down. The panels are held together with networking cable (an idea I got from something Jack said - thanks Jack). I made the house myself from old fence panels that were lying around the garden.

The warren crosses in their afternoon run. The frames is made from the metal legs and frame from some office desks, this is then wrapped around with wire. The cat litter tray (well cleaned) makes a great nest box. The girls only go in there during the day as it's not fox proof.

The latest additions to my family. Three Rhode Island Red cross chicks. They really are off their trolley

In the background is a blueberry in a tyre. It wasn't till I took the photo that I noticed a nice fat juicy blueberry just waiting to be eaten.

The photos are a bit small to see properly Thomzo. :( How many birds do you have now? I like the shopping trolley - do you wheel your babies around? You could take them to the park.

Yeah, sorry about the size of the photos. I tried and tried to resize them and couldn't get photobucket to do it. I don't know why.

I do wheel the chicks outside when the sun shines (or at least I have done so on the one time the sun has shone since getting them.
