Two bassets!!! I grew up with a very bad basset hound named Max. My mum used to dispair of his naughty behaviour but he was a huge part of the family & lived to be 11 despite being epileptic. Beautiful silly dogs

Indeed!
Oh, the stories we could tell...... I think you have to be a VERY patient person to own a basset
We used to have a dog flap in Blackpool for Burts - but if it rained, he used to pop his head out - body still inside & THEN pee!
The pup's new party trick is to jump up at the counters if even just a tiny corner of a tea-towel is visible, he steals it & tries to dig it in the garden!
He's also eaten the equivalent of about 2 punnets of strawberries- I've given up now - he wriggles under the meshes (hubby didn't think he could do this) nicks a strawberry - green, pink, whatever colour & then plays football with it & then eats it. We've not had any strawberries off of 12 plants! :angryfire:

Next year will be different when we have raised beds & a proper wooden fence around the veggie beds!

But they're gorgeous when they're asleep!

Max used to pull the washing off the line! Mum had lots of torn bedding - he just didn't like stuff to flap around in the wind! He would howl if shut on his own at night so Mum went to see the vet about it who said Bassets were pack animals and would she consider getting another one? Mum practically cried that she wouldn't be able to cope with two! So the vet advised her to let him sleep in their bedroom in his basket. This solved the howling! Max was 1 when I was born, I used to craw into his basket to sleep alongside him and in a wierd kind of way I thought he was my brother! Whenever we talk about Max one of us will always say "he was a naughty sod"! I could tell you more but don't want to bore people! I'll have to tell my parents about your two, they'll be amazed at your strength of character!

Umm.... when hubby's mum 'passes to the other side'... (she's 88 now, we've gone past the point of diplomacy! )
we will be getting a couple more as well & will be starting to breed - on a small scale, but it'll be fun!
I guess we just love dog scob, and the smell of bassets is quite.... comforting (if a little strong at times!) :pale:

Yes, shell - benji is extremely regular.... I'd say it seems like 4 times a day! I'm often spotted wandering the garden on a poo hunt with my plastic glove & bucket - the 4 yr old granddaughter helps too - standing by the poos & yelling!
Oh, the joys of dogs!
