I wonder where she gets the money to do the installations mind you

One self sufficient Mamma here
Sounds like eco-living almost to a fine art

Perhaps alimony.

Isn't she absolutely gorgeous!! Truly natural beauty. I've seen her a few times on tv over the last few days ... a terrific face to front thrift and care of our environment. More power to her
What an incredibly old-fashioned and silly comment!LBR wrote:Perhaps alimony.

I hope i look like that at her age!
What TV shows has she been on? I'd like to know how she's saving the energy and more about the rainwater pool (not that there's room for one here, but they sound nice).

Re: One self sufficient Mamma here
I find that bit strange in the article: she keeps it "topped up with eco-friendly chemicals"? Eh - what?

Re: One self sufficient Mamma here
that's the bit i was interested in. it sounds like a natural pool - but a lot of those have natural filters, like reeds.

Re: One self sufficient Mamma here
With all the money she is saving on heating bills & food shopping I'm sure she has more than paid back her investments in the "installations" in her home. We have cut back by getting rid of our Sky subscription, TV licence, changing energy providers, changing car insurers and cancelling unnecessary direct debits and thereby saved about £100 a month. Oh and we've reduced our food bills too. So in this way we could in theory afford to put in some "installation" ourselves. As it is we're just getting by because of unforeseen expenditure due to damage by my tenants. It's amazing what some people consider "essentials" in life which we just don't pay out for!

All very well when you have your own house... Not much use investing in "installations", no matter how green and money saving, when you don't know how much longer you'll be able to live in the house!

She has been on the likes of tonight with trevor macdonald. i saw her there saying she used to pay 100 a month for electricity but now only pays £5 a month because of her eco changes. That's great and hats off to the lady but she also said that she had installed £20,000 worth of pv panels so as long as she lives for another 210.52 years she will break even on her outlay.the.fee.fairy wrote:I hope i look like that at her age!

It's plainly obvious that she is well buckled and if any one of us had the same sort of money as she has then we would do the same or even better. I'm not knocking the lady but in the real world many of us can only dream of being this eco friendly.
