woohoo, I got the job! :D
remember, last week I said something about going to see if I could find a job at the emmaus place, a community of living and working where dropouts can go and stay a while ........
today I went and had a first day working there and I had a BLAST!!!
I ended up in a field of sunflowers, cutting them and when I could stand the heat no longer, I was bundling them, 50 a bundle, which they were going to hand out at a local soccer stadium tonight, as promotion of the emmaus.
I think there must be 60 ish bundles of 50, so you do the maths........I was SO tired at the end of the day but have felt SO at home there, with LOVELY people who made NO problem of my hearing loss at all.
had lots of nice talks with them, and the day ended with them having ordered pizza in and cold white beers, and invited me to join the fun.
I got a look at their veggie patch.
pooooor veggie patch.
they live there with ten people and badly lack enough manpower to handle the HUGE place with the abdy, the garden, the secondhand shop, vegetables plus all the jobs needing done in a completely run out abdy.
so I offered help with the veggie patch.
yeah right.
how for heavens sake am I going to do that with just me and another man helping me???
so, I am absolutely going to love it there but if there is any one with lots of experiences on weeds please get in touch with me (I could better ask if there is NO one with experiences in weed haha)
I will try to do it without having to do real heavy jobs.......trying to save my back.
suggestions anyone?
I have thought of pull them out by hand....
oh and they plan to get a bakery too, and cows and pigs..........for the bakery, I am their woman I said already (with my big mouth and youthful enthusiasm) and no cows and pigs until they have found enough people to help out.
YAY!

Well Done :D
weeds in abundance? cover them with old carpet or black plastic to weaken them - that should make it easier to hoe or dig them out, or if they're not perrenials dig them in as green manure
