Try putting some blotting paper or kitchen roll underneath and on top of the stain and ironing it gently. The paper should absorb the grease as it heats up. Once the grease starts coming out move the paper to a clean bit.
Or you could try vinegar - it seems to work with everything else!

I use soft soap.
I make it from Fairy household soap and water.

If it's food grease - pour normal washing up liquid over the stains, leave for 10 minutes and then either handwash in hot water or chuck in the washing machine with your next load. I actually find Ecover the best of shifting them! If it's a fairly robust, colour-fast material then you can give it a gentle rub, if not then just leave it to soak in.

If it is machine grease, then petrol applied to the stain usually works - this works if you get engine oil on your clothes, too. But you do look a bit silly siphoning petrol out of your car....

It is food grease - OH decided to borrow a new t shirt of mine - wear it to a bbq and wipe his fingers down the front of it

Well, I'd get the OH in the naughty corner for a start! Washing up liquid has certainly shifted BBQ grease marks from our stuff in the past, even where it has been left a wee while (with my lacsadaisical attitude to washing, anything up to 3 weeks!). If it doesn't come out first time, let it dry and then repeat. I got some hideous stains down one of my favourite tops and admittedly it didn't come out first time (but reduced it loads), I think it look about 3 attempts and now it is as good as new.
I'm assuming the t-shirt is cotton? I wouldn't recommend this technique on something like silk, I think it would be too fragile, but 'normal' t-shirt-type cotton should be absolutely fine...but don't rub it in if the t-shirt is a bright colour as the colour may fade slightly.
If OH has also managed to smear something lovely like BBQ sauce on it as well, after washing it hang it on the line and leave it there regardless of the weather for a week....sunshine and rain can take most things out eventually, even Hipp Organic Carrot babyfood!!!!
